Or - “Is He Man… Or Monster? And Will He Figure Out Which Before It’s Too Late?”

One of the fascinating things about World War Hulk to me is the underlying justification of the Hulk’s actions. He is acting out of vengeance for his wife, his unborn child, and his subjects on Sakaar, all of whom counted on him for protection. His reasoning, while brutal, is sound, and he pointed out to the Invisible Woman that she would be doing the same thing if HE killed Reed and her children, and she couldn’t really argue with him. Really, the whole thing boils down to lack of trust between the heroes and an almost chronic inability by the Illuminati to imagine that anybody is as smart as they are. With Black Bolt and Iron Man down, and Mr. Fantastic about to be in his sights (this issue takes place between pages of World War Hulk #2) it’s easy to forget about the other players on the field, but two of them are about to have a little tete-a-tete of their own…

While the Hulk has been busy making new friends in deep space, what have his friends on Earth been doing? And more importantly, where do they stand now that Hulk is back to smash those who jettisoned him off planet? Rick Jones will have to face the green goliath in Incredible Hulk #108.
NOTE: This issue was originally solicited with a different story. That story will appear in Incredible Hulk #109.
I guess if you are going to fall behind in getting your stories completed on time, the best bet is to jostle everything around, hope it still makes sense, and hope you don’t piss off those readers who had to pre-order the issue because their nearest comic shop is over 200 miles away *cough*Superman*cough*.
“Bitter much?”
Quite possibly, dear reader. Quite possibly. Take the jump for the cover and solicitation information.

Marvel Comics announced the Incredible Hulk #106 has sold out at Diamond. This is the kickoff issue to the whole World War Hulk line that will continue to roll out of Marvel over the next couple of months. As much as I wasn’t excited to see the Hulk become a space gladiator, I’m really interested to see what kind of justice smashing and bashing he deals out to those who sent him into space to begin with.
Marvel has sent us a sneak peek of the Incredible Hulk #107 for you to drool over… or not if you don’t like getting your computer screen messy.

The Hollywood Reporter is confirming this morning that Liv Tyler will be playing the part of Betty Ross in the next Hulk movie from Marvel Studios. Tyler will star opposite Ed Norton who will be playing Bruce Banner.
Ross, a classic “Hulk” character from the comic book’s beginning in 1962, is Banner’s fellow scientist and an ally in his quest to rid him of his lurking monster deep inside. The movie will unfold with Ross estranged from Banner (Norton), but with the pursuit of the Hulk heating up and Banner on the run trying to cure his condition, Ross finds herself swept back into his life.

I don’t know if Marvel is totally disavowing everything from the previous Hulk movie, but I kind of dug Jennifer Connelly as Ross. Tyler will do a good job, I’m sure, but she just doesn’t do it for me like Connelly did.
Universal Pictures is distributing the film, that begins filming this summer in Canada.

It’s not often I get excited about seeing two companies do a crossover event (unless it is Batman and Captain America), but Unholy Union from Top Cow and Marvel could be one of those events.
In the oversized issue written by Ron Marz and illustrated by Michael Broussard, Witchblade and The Darkness find themselves meeting the Ghost Rider, the Incredible Hulk, and Doctor Strange.
“We packed as much as humanly possible into this one. I think we ended up with a story that gives each of the characters a moment in the spotlight, includes plenty of over-the-top action, and even plants a seed for Top Cow’s upcoming First Born storyline,” commented writer Ron Marz, “So we’ve got all that, plus ample opportunity for artist Michael Broussard to show off what he’s capable of. For a guy who’s just beginning his career, Michael is amazingly accomplished. He’s the real deal, and I’m happy to be working with him.”
The 40 page one shot will sell for $3.99. Major Spoilers has a sneak peek at the preliminary cover after the jump.

I think this took a lot of people by surprise. Ed Norton has been signed to star as Bruce Banner in Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk movie scheduled to hit theatre’s on June 13, 2008.

“Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business. His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the big screen in a new and exciting way,” said Kevin Feige, President of Production, Marvel Studios.
Under the visionary direction of Louis Leterrier (Transporter 2, Unleashed), The Incredible Hulk will return to the roots of the long-running comic series and television show.
The movie is scheduled to begin this summer in Toronto.
