This November, Image Comics will release a new four-issue miniseries written by Nightly News writer Jonathan Hickman.

While THE NIGHTLY NEWS was a gripping, media-centric thriller with an edgy political slant, Hickman is best known for utilizing an art style consisting of double page spreads which married traditional comic art with elements of graphic design. With PAX ROMANA, Jonathan will again be pushing the boundaries of storytelling while telling the tale of 5,000 men sent on an impossible mission to change the past and save the future.

The full color miniseries bows November 28th for $3.50.

This November Image Comics debuts Fearless, a four-issue miniseries from Mark Sable, P.J. Holden, and David Roth.

“If you’re going to do a superhero book these days you really need to do something unique,” says Mark Sable. “FEARLESS is far from typical. The lead is a literal man without fear, as behind the mask he’s paralyzed with a crippling anxiety disorder, but an anti-fear drug enables him to fight the war on crime. A life of dependency crashes down when his supply runs completely dry. What comes next is the crux of the series.”

Image has a new ongoing series debuting in October. Proof by Alex Grecian and Riley Rossmo tells the story of FBI agent Ginger Brown who goes through the looking glass and ends up dealing with all the supernatural and paranormal stuff you see in those tabloid magazines. Best of all her partner is Bigfoot.

Rossmo explains, “We’re aiming to overhaul the usual expectations of a sci-fi series. Our Bigfoot completely contradicts his usual role. Although, that’s just the beginning as our first issue ends with El Chubacabra in a form that differs from any before.”

techjacket.jpgImage Comics has announced Tech Jacket, the first series by Invincible and Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman, will be collected in a trade paperback. Tech Jacket tells the story of Zack Thompson, an ordinary teenager until his family was thrust into the center of an alien civil war. As usual when these things happen, Zack was fused against his will with a battle vest capable of granting him power far beyond those of mere mortals.

“Tech Jacket has always been a big favorite of mine,” Kirkman says. “Zack’s not like a typical comic book teenager. He’s far from a big dork or a wealthy heir. His family is working class – just like most people out there. In fact, he’s probably the creation of mine I relate to the most.”

If you haven’t read Invincible, then you are missing out, and if Kirkman’s great story telling in Walking Dead is any indication, then Tech Jacket should be a must have.

Tech Jacket, packed with extras, exclusive sketches and introduction by the author hits stores August 15, for $14.99.

deathdealer03_cover.jpgImage Comics has announced a double sell out for Frank Frazetta’s Death Dealer. According to the company, Death Dealer #2 sold out on the same day as the second printing of Death Dealer #1.

“When we sold out of #1 we were sure that we printed enough to fill the surging demand. We were wrong. Blissfully wrong” says writer Joshua Ortega. “Well, we’re going back to press again. If folks want more copies, we’ll give ‘em more. The second printing of number two and the third printing of number one will feature a shiny silver treatment. We love the metallic ink. It differentiates the print runs. It’s shiny and functional.”

Death Dealer #3 arrives this week.

In the years following the first world war, Italy was torn apart with different ideologies springing up, often pitting families against one another. The family tales of Michael Cavallaro have been turned into an epic tale spanning the time between the two world wars. Parade (with Fireworks) tells the history of a family on their journeys from an Italian countryside, to the coalmines of the American south, and the factories of the northeast.

“This riveting new talent was brought to my attention by Shadowline editor, Kris Simon,” Shadowline President Jim Valentino explained. “Not only is a Michael a brilliant cartoonist, but he’s producing work truly unlike no other in the industry. The mix of art styles he brings to the work certainly has influences from throughout the history of the medium, but they’re fused together with a result I don?t believe people have quite seen before.”

Parade (with Fireworks) arrives in September for $3.50.

What happens when you mix one part Exorcist with another part David Lynch? You’ll find out in August when Image Comics and Rick Remender release a four issue ghost story called Sorrow.

In a prepared statement Remender said, “I’ve been fascinated with the idea of possession since childhood. There is nothing more terrifying than the idea of dark, disembodied spirits creeping in and taking us over. Co-writer Seth Peck and I wrote this with the idea that gore is the least interesting aspect of Horror stories– true horror is psychological, not simply bloody.”
