Image Comics has announced plans to release the early work of Jim Valentino in a new collection.
“Finally releasing this new definitive edition of VIGNETTES feels like one part pride, one part humility,” Valentino said. “Seriously, VIGNETTES reads like a life lived at 100 MPH with everything from sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll through parenting, the struggles of the young artist and everything in between. I’m thrilled to have it all contained under one cover.”
Vignettes will also collect some never before seen material into the 144-page black and white trade paperback. Vignettes: The Directors will sell for $14.99 and arrives September 24, 2008.

If you ever wondered what happened to The Zodiac Killer or The Boston Strangler, Image Comics presents one interpretation of the serial killers in their golden years in Wayne Chinsang and Erik Rose’s The Roberts.
“I admit, I’ve always had a morbid fascination with serial murderers,” said writer Wayne Chinsang, also known to the world by his real name, Justin Shady. “When Denis Rader (BTK) finally got caught in 2005 I remember thinking, ‘What if this guy had never been caught? What would he be like as an eighty-year-old man? Or as a grandfather? How long could someone like him go on living a lie, trying to blend in when he so clearly doesn’t?’ Those thoughts were the start of THE ROBERTS.”
That’s what Chinsang explores in The Roberts featuring the two killers living their golden years out in nursing homes and dreaming of going down in infamy.
The Roberts #1 arrives in August for $5.99.

In a world destroyed by terrorism, only the War Heroes can save the day. Or so is the premise behind Image Comics latest series deploying this June from Mark Millar and Tony Harris.
“WAR HEROES is everything I’ve been leading up to with CIVIL WAR, ULTIMATES, THE AUTHORITY, KICK ASS and WANTED,” said Millar. “In a way, it’s the culmination of superhero concepts I’ve thus far only dreamed about, brought to fruition due to Tony’s artwork beautiful line work and the unique creative freedom Image Comics provides. Consider this our ULTIMATES 3.”

Image Comics has slipped us a few pages of art from Kody Chamberlain that can be found in Pretty, Baby, Machine due in stores in May. The three issue mini-series is written by Clark Westerman
“PRETTY, BABY, MACHINE came out of a love for the classic noir films of the 1950s and the startlingly true history of America’s mobsters,” said Westerman. “However, it wasn’t until I saw Kody’s art that the idea really gelled. Seeing the range of his styles blew me away and soon after, we got to work on PRETTY, BABY, MACHINE.”

The milestone issues of Walking Dead and Invincible are getting ever closer, and according to Image, the titles are at the top of their game, with both titles selling out at the distributor level.
“People seem to be real psyched for our big milestone,” said series writer Robert Kirkman. “Having THE WALKING DEAD #42 and INVINCIBLE #45 sell out has gotten the entire creative team very fired up. Ryan Ottley’s and Charlie Adlard’s pages get better and better the closer we get to fifty.”

Image Comics has announced writer Brian Reed and artist Ian Hosfeld will be launching their first creator-owned book, The Circle, this November.
“It’s in the vein of the classic TV show Mission: Impossible, or The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and somewhat inspired by the fantastic long running comic strip Modesty Blaise,” said Reed in a prepared statement. “The Circle is a group of freedom fighters that first formed amidst the horrible civil wars in the Baltics during the late 1990’s, and today operate as guns for hire.”

This November, Image Comics will release a new four-issue miniseries written by Nightly News writer Jonathan Hickman.
While THE NIGHTLY NEWS was a gripping, media-centric thriller with an edgy political slant, Hickman is best known for utilizing an art style consisting of double page spreads which married traditional comic art with elements of graphic design. With PAX ROMANA, Jonathan will again be pushing the boundaries of storytelling while telling the tale of 5,000 men sent on an impossible mission to change the past and save the future.

Gotta love time travel stories!
The full color miniseries bows November 28th for $3.50.
