Is it any surprise that H’wood is already working on a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine?  The movie more than paid for itself over the weekend, prompting 20th Century Fox to begin development on the story that will be set in Japan focusing on the samurai/Yakuza storyline.

I think the biggest problem with this idea, is it’s a 20th Century Fox idea.   The best Marvel Comics movies that have come out in the last decade have been the movies produced and distributed through Marvel.  I don’t know how much money 20th Century Fox would want in the deal, but Marvel really should be doing everything it can to get all of is properties back under the Marvel roof and do it their way – it may not be the best way, or the right way, but it would be the better way.

What say you, Major Spoilers Legion?  Would you be willing to go back to the theater to see Wolverine II: Electric Boogaloo?

Marvel does deserve credit for hyping the heck out of Free Comic Book Day.  They did an excellent job during the first Spider-Man movie, and they are doing it again by getting Hugh Jackman to promote the event as the lead in to this Wolverine trailer.

Virgin Comics is teaming with Hugh Jackman, Marc Guggenheim  and Paul Gulacy to give five randomly selected winners a chance to be drawn into an upcoming Nowhere Man issue.

Nowhere Man takes place 500 years in the future, when the Earth’s population has been infected with a virus that allows an oppressive government to monitor their thoughts.  It’s the Patriot Act gone haywire. But a group of rebels have engineered the ultimate weapon: a genetically altered child, born immune to the virus.  He’s the only one on the planet who can bring some semblance of privacy and individuality back to the world.  He is the Nowhere Man.

You can enter the contest at the Virgin Comics website, but hurry, you only have until September 15, 2008.  If you aren’t selected as one of the lucky five, ten runner-ups receive a copy of the first issue autographed by Hugh Jackman.

While Jackman and his Seed Productions production company will create the series, Amazing Spider-Man scribe Marc Guggenheim will write the series.
