Mattel is showing off the battle damaged He-Man variant, that allows players to change the chest plate to reflect any damage the protector of Eternia may suffer.
This toy does not feature a spinning tumble, but does include all three chest plates – standard, one smash, and my personal favorite, two smashes!
He also comes with his heroic Battle Axe just like in the famous painting of Battle Armor He-Man on top of Battle Cat. (anyone have the art book?)
Battle Armor He-Man goes on sale January 15, only at the MattCollector.com website.

It’s bad enough H’wood is actually making View-Master the movie, now Mattel’s most famous toy, Barbie is getting a feature, too. Universal Pictures won the rights to the live action treatment, with Laurence Mark, of Jerry Maguire fame, producing the flick.
Meanwhile, on Eternia…
He-Man got some sad news a couple of weeks ago, when Warner Bros. and Mattel parted ways, but the big galoot has stumbled his way into a new home at Columbia. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on which side of the paycheck your are sitting on, all of the previously prepared content has been scrapped. This means the script and all the pre-production will need to be rebuilt from the ground up, so hopefully Columbia knows what it is doing.

Those who were hoping for a better retelling of Mattel’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe franchise in film form are going to have to wait a little longer now that Warner Bros. and Mattel have called it quits in regards to the character.
Mattel and WB didn’t see eye to eye over the direction of the project and made a mutual decision to let the option lapse this month. Story revolves around He-Man, a prince who becomes a warrior battling the evil Skeletor for control of his magical homeland.
Mattel will more than likely shop the property around, and Disney, who recently purchased Marvel, might be ready to strike. It’s a shame Warner Bros. decided to drop the property, because with Mattel’s already close relationship with the House of Mouse, it would be another punch in the gut to the WB if Disney cranked out a hit as the mega-corporation continues to roll on.
These kind of remixes always crack me up, especially when tied to a rockin’ song. Sing-along, won’t you?

Mattel has announced the sold out Mer-Man figures, part of the new Masters of the Universe collection, will be back in stock on April 29th, beginning at 12:00 PM Eastern. The first run of the figures sold out, so fans who are building up their new action figure collection will want to cue up early.
If this second shipment also sells out fast, we will look at increasing orders again until we can get the numbers just right for MOTU figures. It is a learning process, and we appreciate fan’s understanding as we move forward with each sale getting closer to perfection.
During the first offering, there was a problem with the online shopping cart system, which caused international customers to be locked out of the purchasing process. Mattel assures that the problems have been fixed, and there should be few problems.

Variety is reporting that John Stevenson (Kung-Fu Panda) will take on the directorial duties for the new He-Man movie produced by Joel Silver. No word on a release date as the script gets polished, but it is clear Mattel wants this to be a successful motion picture to boost toy sales.

Hollywood Reporter has an interesting article up today that states Joel Silver and Warner Bros. Pictures are working on a new He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie. Justin Marks has been hired to write the movie that will simply be called Masters of the Universe.
The new take on “Masters” skews more toward gritty fantasy and reimagines [Prince] Adam as a soldier who sets off to find his destiny, happening upon a magical world called Eternia. There, a being called Skeletor has raised a technological army and is bent on eradicating all traces of magic.
Hey, as long as it has She-Ra in that short mini-skirt, I’m in!
