hasbro.gifI’m sure it isn’t a literal ton of toys - well, maybe it is, I haven’t weighed the average action figure lately - in any case, Hasbro as announced several new toy lines at the San Diego Comic-Con.

I don’t have any awesome cool pictures, but if you are at the show and stop by the Hasbro booth, take a few snaps for us, won’t you?

It’s the thing I hate hearing most when I’m hanging with my peeps in Vegas, but for G.I. Joe fans, the name might send shivers down your spine. Two photos of the character have been released on-line. We have one after the jump.

Yes, that Taters of the Lost Ark thing had me pretty down on what Hasbro had planned for the Indiana Jones line, but now that I’ve seen the other pictures - oh doggy!

Okay, if you must, it’s another toy from Hasbro based on Raiders of the Lost Ark, called Taters of the Lost Ark. I think I’m gonna pass on this one.

It’ll sell for $15, when it is released May 1, 2008.

spectacularspiderman.jpg

Hasbro has unveiled the toys inspired by the Spectacular Spider-Man television series, movies, and comic book. It looks like there will be around 50 figures (including villains) released throughout the year. The one I think will be cool is the Remote Control Wallcrawler Spider-Man that uses vacuum-pump technology to let the wall crawler climb the walls.

Take the jump for the toys unveiled at Toy Fair 2008 in New York

Go Beattie!

Friday, August 31st, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

gijoe.jpgJust doesn’t have the same ring to it that Go Joe! does, but I’m sure we’ll get over that once Stuart Beattie turns in his script for Paramount Pictures G.I. Joe flick.

Studio has fast-tracked the Stephen Sommers-helmed “G.I. Joe” in the wake of the success of Paramount/DreamWorks’ “Transformers,” which is also based on a Hasbro toy line.

Great, just what we need, a huge phenomenon of rushed films based on Hasbo toys. What’s next, Candy Land: The Movie? The Magical Adventures of Furby? Go Go Gloworm?

Story is set at Brussels-based G.I.J.O.E., an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a double-crossing Scottish arms dealer.

I really hope we get to see some Cobra Commandos bite the dust in this flick, instead of parachuting to safety all the time. The movie is expected to go into prepro this fall, with a summer 2009 release date.

Geeeee Eyeeee Joooooooooooeeeeee!
