Bluewater Productions sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of its upcoming Female Force: J.K. Rowling issue, that you can read after the jump!
I am really surprised by the news that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince got trounced in its second week by G-Force the family centric CGI hamster action flick. Potter dropped a surprising 61-percent from it’s opening weekend, bringing in $30 million over the Friday and Saturday time-period. While I would love to have the $30 million in my pocket, it’s more impressive that Potter brought in $221 million over the past two weeks.
Disney’s G-Force opened with $32 million, so my guess is, if everyone hadn’t been at Comic-Con this past weekend, Potter would have held the top spot.
Did anyone see G-Force this weekend?
Can’t believe I missed this one last week. Very funny.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince comes to us two years after the release the hugely successful Order of the Phoenix, the longest wait we’ve had between Potter films. Originally the film was set for a November 2008 release date but Warner Brothers pushed it back to July ‘09. The reason? Apparently the studio felt that the film would do better with a summer opening after the enormous success of The Dark Knight. This was frustrating news to Potter fans all over the world especially because the movie was completed and ready to go. In the end it was worth the wait and the film grossed one hundred million dollars in its first day alone.

I really thought Transformers or Star Trek would be the big box office buster of the summer, but here it is not quite Friday (check the post date), and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has already hit $100 million worldwide. Granted only $58.2 million is from U.S. ticket sales, but the one day total is astounding.
This is the largest opening for the movie franchise, even though the final book came out two years ago. I would have thought the first Potter movie would have been the big hit simply because of the fan anticipation. If this is the tip of the iceberg, I can’t wait until Monday when the weekend take comes in.
I’m hoping to find a moment to see the movie real soon. How many of you will see Harry Potter this weekend?

At some point Harry Potter was bound to pop up in our Magic themed Art Appreciation Moment day. It took a while to find a good image, as for some reason alot of the image I found involved Harry/Hermoione/Ron involved in some weird sex act.
My extensive search did discover this nice piece by Noe Monin featuring a scary moment for Harry from the Half-Blood Prince book. And since the movie is just around the corner, this seemed most appropriate for today.
I haven’t even had the chance to play the LEGO Batman game yet, but it seems LEGO has tapped into something special with its line of LEGO games.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is another in the big summer movie extravaganza, and it opens July 17, 2009.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer has done really well in comic book form, and even though we won’t see Harry Potter comics in the near future, I do wonder how many comic book readers are fans of the Harry Potter books? How many of the Major Spoiler Legion are going to see the Half Blood Prince?
If you ever wondered what a real life version of Quidditch would look like, check out what some college students are doing. My favorite is the guy playing the Snitch.
