Over 300 12-inch, parachute-equipped, G.I. JOE action figures will be taking a plunge off a 42-story Kansas City hotel roof and soar over 500 feet to the ground as an army of G.I. JOE enthusiasts cheer at the incredible spectacle.
It should come as no surprise to find out that G.I. Joe took the number one spot at the box office this weekend, bringing in $100.3 million worldwide. This is one of the biggest openings for a movie opening in August. The movie brought in the young male demographic as expected, but it also brought in a fair number of families eager to check out the Hasbro action figures gone movie heroes.
As expected, the strong opening weekend, has prompted Paramount to order a follow up sequel.
G.I. Joe arrives in theaters today, and with all the negative comments I’ve seen from those who speculate the film is going to be bad, I wonder how many are going to see it today? Rotten Tomatoes has the tomato meter at 41% positive on opening morning.

The latest trailer for the upcoming G.I. Joe movie comes off as more a comedy than an action flick that wants to be taken seriously.

I love sneak peeks. They get me excited about the next batch of comics coming out in the near future. Today, IDW Publishing sent us a sneak peek of G.I. Joe Movie Prequel TPB, G.I. Joe Movie Adaptation TPB, G.I. Joe #6, G.I. Joe, Vol. 1 TPB, Pebbles, Book 2: Daddy’s Girl, Sir Apropos of Nothing HC, Star Trek: Mission’s End #4, and Transformers: All Hail Megatron #12. Some are just covers, but a few are giving it up for your enjoyment.
