It was announced at Wizard World Chicago that Bryan Hitch’s next project at Marvel will be reuniting with Mark Millar for a 12-issue run on Fantastic Four.
The duo plan on returning the Fantastic Four to the top of the charts, and promise to get the issues out monthly too.
In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Hitch said, “Well, we’re actually four issues in now and when I get back from holiday I’ll be starting on issue #5. So, yeah, I’ve done four issues in the time it would have taken me to do one issue of “The Ultimates,” so I think we’re cracking quite well.”
Good stories, good characters, monthly, and two great names behind it? Sounds like a winner to me! Millar and Hitch join forces to tackle the Fantastic Four beginning in 2008.

As I suspected when I first commented about the Silver Surfer coin contest, altering the coins is in fact illegal.
The U.S. Mint said in a news release Friday that it learned of the promotional quarter this week and advised the studio and The Franklin Mint they were breaking the law. It is illegal to turn a coin into an advertising vehicle, and violators can face a fine.
“The promotion is in no way approved, authorized, endorsed, or sponsored by the United States Mint, nor is it in any way associated or affiliated with the United States Mint,” according to the release. The federal mint did not say whether the studio or the private Franklin Mint would face a penalty.

Well everybody, I was super busy yesterday trying to get my house in order for a big sale, which was followed up immediately by a storm that promptly wrecked said house. This put me quite a bit behind as I scrambled to find some news of interest for you, dear reader, and I failed to get to Marvel’s daily deluge of sneak peeks. So gathered in one giant post I bring you Treasure Island, Cable and Deadpool, the final chapter of the Hulk in space saga, and a bunch of covers from upcoming Silver Surfer tie-in books.
Enjoy!

Twentieth Century Fox and the Franklin Mint are joining forces in what I can only describe as one of the strangest marketing campaigns I’ve seen in a while. The Franklin Mint is turning a 2005 California statehood commemorative quarter into a Silver Surfer quarter.
The 40,000 coins will be distributed in cities across the United States just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. Anyone who finds the Silver Surfer coin will be directed to the Fantastic Four website where they can regisister for a chance to win a trip to London for the June 12th premiere of the movie.
For some reason I always thought defacing U.S. currency was against the law, but I guess I’m wrong - especially when the fate of millions of dollars in box office sales is at stake. It is probably just a sticker that peals off anyway, meaning those 40,000 coins could quickly turn into 10 coins after an hour of jingling around in people’s pockets.

Apple has posted a brand new trailer to the upcoming Final Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer movie. As much as I didn’t care for the first trailer, this one is looking pretty damn sweet. Make sure you check out one of the high-definition movies instead of the one formatted for the iPod.
