My guess is yes, but the ominous email from Marvel certainly makes one wonder what is up with the First Family of Comics.
Marvel has announced that Stan Lee is making his Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited debut with a special Fantastic Four tale.
The Thing teaches the rest of Marvel’s First Family all about Chanukah, and in turn, they impart some lessons of their own on some would-be street toughs. All this plus an art cameo by Lee’s FF co-creator Jack Kirby in a one-of-a-kind story that should not be missed!
This is a four-part story that is available now at the Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited site, with new installments arriving weekly.
I didn’t intend it, but this week turned into a Women of the Marvel Universe themed Art Appreciation Moment of the Day. Thought it would be fitting to end the week with the first lady of Marvel – Sue Storm done by the late great Mike Wieringo.
We’ll kick the morning off with the final promo bit from Marvel hyping the coming Fantastic Four #570. This time with the John Cassaday sketch variant.
I’m gonna set this one loose in the wild and see if it survives the roaming pack of wild Major Spoilerites that grace these plains.
As part of the build up to issue #570, Marvel has released the variant cover for the issue.

Marvel sent over the new logo that will be adorning the cover of the Fantastic Four covers beginning with #570. In the words of Rodrigo, “I like it”. It works for a four member team, but let’s hope they don’t try to do the same thing with The Avengers.

At the start of this issue, Ben Grimm and his fiancée Debbi are having some pre-nuptial problems that are a little more unusual than the average engaged couple has to deal with. On the Thing’s return to the Baxter Building, he and the rest of the Fantastic Four are forcibly catapulted into a major battle with Doom’s Master, which not only shows how dangerous their adversary is but also reveals the shocking origin of this major new villain.
Or – “It’s Not Really Issue 565, By The Way…”

So, in recent months, the Fantastic Four has been put under the direction of a new superstar Writer/Artist team (Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch, also responsible for the first two “seasons” of the Ultimates) and they have been building to a overarching plotline that seems to be ready to reveal the existeance of a terrifying menace that out-Doom’s even Doctor Doom. But, before all of that happens, we have Marvel’s First Family visiting their distant relatives for Christmas, hanging out in a not-at-all sinister small town where everything is perfectly normal, and nothing could go horribly, fatally awry and kill them all, right?
Right?

With H.A.M.M.E.R. Agents swarming the gates of the Baxter Building, the Fantastic Four get sucked into Marvel’s Dark Reign event. Marvel has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of Dark Reign: Fantastic Four #1 written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Sean Chen.

Remember that guy that traded a paperclip all the way up to a house? Marvel looks like it is doing something similar with its Take My Trade campaign to benifit the HERO Initiative.
Check the Press Release:
Marvel Comics Executive Editor Tom Brevoort, one of the comic industry’s most prolific personalities, is proud to present TAKE MY TRADE, a groundbreaking quest to trade up to a copy of Fantastic Four #1! Pioneered by Brevoort’s critically-acclaimed Blah Blah Blog at Marvel.Com, this event allows fans to trade their comics with Brevoort so he can find a comic worthy of being traded for an original FF #1, which will then be donated to charity via The HERO Initiative. All comics remaining at the end of this event, which continues throughout 2009, will be auctioned by The HERO Initiative to aid in the welfare of less fortunate comic book creators. Plus, every participant in this event received a Certificate of Meaninglessness, personally signed by Brevoort himself!
Or – “I Honestly Have NO Idea When These Books Came Out…”

Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends… much like the harassment you get when you wear the pizza suit and dance on the corner in front of a Cici’s. Even when you’re cutting back on comics purchases, like I have, the urge to review more comics than there is time to review them is strong. Makes me with there were 8 days a week, actually. Thus, we at Stately Spoilers Manor have created this handy, dandy method of touching upon things going on at Penny Lane, down the long and winding road, even across the universe. So why don’t we do it in the road, throw some Norwegian wood on the fire, cause it’s a helter skelter ride through a day in the life of comics!

What happens when you take four superheroes, lock them in quarantine until a space toxin is removed from their systesm? Welcome to the real world like you’ve never seen it before as the Fantastic Four get a little cabin fever and start taking it out on one another. Good thing there are those kids hanging around… They always solve the problems the adults can’t… yeah… stupid grown ups…
