As if you can’t already get enough Skrullerific images from the Who Do You Trust? campaign, Marvel has gone and done it to Marvel’s First Family (with a little help from Mike McKone).
Mavel has sent Major Spoilers the variant cover image to Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #1 that arrives May 14, 2008.
Well if you’ve read the first issue of Secret Invasion, you know she opened a huge hole to the Negative Zone, blowing up half the Baxter Building. But what happens after that?

According to Marvel, Fantastic Four 554 has sold out at the distributor level, so the company has decided to go back to press for a second printing of the Mark Millar/Bryan Hitch tale.
“First off, a great big thanks,” said Millar. “Our friends all pointed at us and laughed when we said we wanted to put FF back in the top ten, but we love this book. We have always believed in it and are both just delighted to see our naive, slightly deranged enthusiasm reach other people and translate into great sales. A huge thanks from both Scotland and England to everyone who got out there and supported us. We were really, really happy with the numbers, but to hear that the book sold out in a day is just nuts. We promise this is only the beginning and the fun has only begun!”

First off, I’d like to apologize to everyone who expected to see the Element Lad Hero History today… It’s still on tap, but I was so wiped after my first REAL week at my new job that I only got up to about 1994 in Jan’s timeline before I felt the call of swimming, S’mores, and Mario Soccer. Mea culpa. I hope to have Jan’s life story up either Tuesday or Wednesday, lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise, but in penance for my general lackadaisical attitude, I have a little surprise for ya’s. There are a great many ‘group opinions’ when you work in a comic shop, (Gatekeeper Hobbies, Huntoon and Gage, Topeka! Ask us about our 9.2 copy of X-Men #137!) but one of the ones that bothers me most is the general perception that Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo’s run on FF was a bad one. People complain about Doom’s ‘girlfriend armor,’ the trips to the afterlife, as well as the issue where Galactus walks the earth and eats hot dogs with Ben Grimm. Contrary to these nattering nabobs of negativity, I loved the entire Waid/’Ringo run and I’d like to share with y’all the reason why…

Hulk meet Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange, Hulk. Now touch gloves and come out fighting. I know it sounds vaugely familiar, but with the Hulk smashing his way through Marvel U, everyone is going to get their chance in the ring for the fate of everything.

Marvel Comics has provided us with a sneak peek at some of the titles arriving next week. This weekend Major Spoilers brings you Avengers: The Initiative 5, Black Panther 30, Fantastic Four 549, Silver Surfer: Requiem 4, World War Hulk: X-Men 3, and Stan Lee’s The Last Fantastic Four Story. I’ve taken a peek at the full issue of the Last Fantastic Four Story, and it isn’t half bad in a Stan Lee sort of way. It’s an interesting tale that doesn’t end like you might expect it.
On Wednesday you can expect a full review of the latest Initiative installment, but for now take the jump for a preview of things to come.
