Last week at the Emerald City Comic Con, the organizers and Frazetta Comics put together an auction to benefit Josh Medors’ fight with cancer. The best part about the entire event is it raised over $10,000 for Josh’s medical bills.
“The response of the comics community and fans alike has been amazing,” Medors said. “The money raised not only helps out with medical expenses, but it also takes a great weight off my shoulders and helps me focus on what positives I can. I could never thank everyone enough for what they have done for me.”
What started off with a couple of e-mails and phone calls to a few friends turned into a mega event, with over 130 lots of donated original art, books, prints, posters, toys and statues all sold at the auction. Fans unable to attend the event can still support Josh in the Ebay auctions, an original John Romita Sr. Mary Jane sketch, Willow Creek sketch books by artists such as Eric Powell, Tim Vigil and an the opportunity to appear as a zombie in THE WALKING DEAD.
That’s great news!

Image Comics has sent Major Spoilers the exclusive covers for Madman Atomic Comics and Gemini, available this weekend at the Emerald City Comic Con.
Emerald City Comic Con is my hometown convention,” GEMINI co-creator and writer Jay Faerber said in a prepared statment. “Debuting my newest creation there, with an exclusive cover nonetheless, was too perfect an opportunity to pass up.”
MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS creator Mike Allred added, “There’s a lot of buzz up here in the Pacific Northwest for the Emerald City Comic Con and since I wasn’t able to attend this year, I still wanted to do something very special. I hope folks will get a big kick out this.”

The Josh Medors Benefit Auction has grown to such huge proportions, it’s hard to keep up with the items on the auction block at the upcoming Emerald City ComiCon. The latest piece attendees can bid on is an original work from Frank Frazetta.
“Having Frank Frazetta donate a sketch is a feather in the cap to an already amazing outpouring of support for Josh that has been shown by the comics community,” said ECCC Organizer Jim Demonakos. “We’ve hardly had time to take pictures and catalog the overwhelming amount of items donated!”
The silent auction is active now, and you can view the items at the Emerald City ComiCon website. After Thursday everything will switch to a live auction.
The Josh Medors Benefit Auction will be taking place at 5:00pm on Saturday, May 10th at the Emerald City ComiCon in Seattle, WA

The follow up series to Zenescope’s Return to Wonderland arrives this July, but those attending the Emerald city comic Con in Seattle will be able to snag Beyond Wonderland #0.
Beyond Wonderland picks up several months after where Return left off. The story follows the now very jaded Calie Liddle as she attempts to get her life back on track after the tragic events which cost her so much just months earlier. But soon Calie realizes that pieces of Wonderland are somehow entering this world and she knows that she could very well be the only person who has a chance to stop it.
Art for the variant cover is done by David Nakayama.
If you are at the convention, stop by Zenescope’s booth (#406) to get a copy, and take pictures of the Ladies of Zenescope.

Those attending the Emerald City ComiCon in May, and who love the rambling, shuffling moves of the undead, can get their hands on CS Moore’s latest Walking Dead Torso Statuettes featuring Andrew after he’s been bitten.
“We couldn’t resist doing something cool for the Emerald City ComiCon,” said Clayburn Moore. “This is our first time exhibiting at the show and we wanted to start with a splash, and what better way to do that than creating a unique collectible in the spirit of the ‘emerald city?’”
The emerald variant features a custom green paint job and will be limited to 300 copies, and will set you back a mere $30.00.

The organizers of the Emerald City ComiCon have announced Dan DiDio, Executive Editor of DC Comics and Adam Baldwin, of Firefly and Chuck fame, have been added to the guest list for the convention coming up May 10 and 11.
“Dan DiDio is making his first ever appearance at the Emerald City ComiCon, so we’re sure our fans will love the opportunity to ask questions and hear news about what’s happening with the DC Universe straight from the man in charge,” said Organizer Jim Demonakos.

Laura Vandervoort - Supergirl from the CW’s Smallville, has joined the list of guests for the 2008 Emerald City Comicon scheduled for May 10th and 11th at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, Washington.

“‘Smallville’ is shot just a couple hours north of Seattle and we’ve had many requests for an actor from the show to appear, so were very excited to have the lovely and talented Ms. Vandervoort out to the convention this year,” says Organizer Jim Demonakos. “In addition, Jamie Bamber, who plays ‘Apollo’ on the new ‘Battlestar Galactica,’ will also be appearing.”
In addition to the growing list of guests, the show has been gathering show exclusives for attendees. One of the latest is free copy of SuperPowers #0 with an exclusive variant cover by Alex Ross, that you can see after the jump.

Event organizer Jim Demonakos sent Major Spoilers the intial list of guests scheduled to appear at the Emerald City ComiCon in Seatle, Washington May 10th and 11th, 2008.
Now this may seem a wee early to be planning for a comic convention, but for those of you who are with kids know May gets to be pretty crazy with all the graduations, season finales, and general wackiness that infect kids during the month, so being able to plan ahead is key.
The line-up looks pretty sweet, so pencil in the con on your calendar now.
The list after the jump!
