Superman/Batman: Public Enemies arrives in stores this week, and Warner Home Video sent Major Spoilers one final sneak peek that features Batman taking on a bunch of cold villains, while Superman has his hands busy with Silver Banshee.
While the debate rages among fans over who might be the best live-action actor to play Batman, there is no such controversy when it comes to the voice of The Dark Knight – Kevin Conroy stands unchallenged for that title.
As the voice behind the landmark series Batman: The Animated Series, Conroy set a standard that has cast a wide shadow over any other actor attempting to fill the role for nearly two decades. Conroy once again dons the animated cowl for the September 29 Warner Home Video release of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.
In Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a Kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his “partner in crime,” Batman. Heroes and villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite – and recruit help – to stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor’s devious plot to take command of far more than North America.
Conroy’s acting career has covered a lengthy gamut of performances on stage and screen, including soap operas and television series like Dynasty and Tour of Duty. His first audition for an animated voiceover role was in 1991 when he arrived at Warner Bros. hoping to land some of the character roles on an upcoming series, and walked out as the title character of Batman: The Animated Series. As they say, the rest is a grand and glorious history for Batman fans across the nation.
So pleased with his return to the role is Conroy that he made his first appearance in six years at Comic-Con International this past summer to promote Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, and the crowd greeted their beloved Batman voice with multiple standing ovations. For those fans that couldn’t hear Conroy’s words in person, here’s the recap of a chat with the actor during that weekend …
Warner Home Video’s next animated movie, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths is hitting stores next spring, and the two images that have been released, look pretty damn good.

In the film, United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a Kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his “partner in crime,” Batman. Heroes and villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite – and recruit help – to stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor’s devious plot to take command of far more than North America.

The Beatles. Love them or hate them, no one can deny that they are a worldwide phenomenon. Their music – and their real-life personalities – has integrated themselves into everyday life, for better or worse. Every few years it seems that, for whatever reason, the Beatles come back from pseudo-semi-obscurity and reclaim the attention of the mass media. This year is no different. Their return to fame this time around comes in the form of a new video game, aptly titled The Beatles: Rock Band. Perhaps you’ve heard of it? Also being released are the completely re-mastered editions of all their albums, which means that if you’re a rabid superfan like myself, you’ve at least entertained the thought of re-buying you’re collection. Again.

As villains go, Clancy Brown has covered the gamut of wicked characters across every medium with sinister perfection – but never is his evil expertise so evident as when he steps behind the microphone as the voice of Lex Luthor. “Believe it or not, I’m walking on air… no wait, that’s the other guy…”
What would you do if discovered you had superpowers? Would you use them to fight crime? Become famous? Rule the world? Or would you prefer to keep a low profile, doing small good deeds here and there, but for the most part try to live a normal life? For meek Jefferson Reed, all he ever wanted was to get through life without being noticed. But after a freak encounter with a falling meteor (and a lot of prodding by his parents), he can’t help but be noticed. Some heroes are born to greatness. Others have to work for it. But in the case of Meteor Man, sometimes greatness is forced upon you.
Screenwriter Stan Berkowitz guides another classic DC Comics graphic novel to animated glory with the September 29 Warner Home Video release of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.
Berkowitz brought Darwyn Cooke’s landmark Justice League: The New Frontier from pages to screen in 2008, and this year he’s converted the words of Jeph Loeb into a summer popcorn-style blockbuster with the crafting of the script for Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.

As the voice of Black Lightning, LeVar Burton adds another level of fanboy cache to a cast thick with legends of the super hero genre in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, the next entry in the popular series of DC Universe animated original PG-13 movies.
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies boasts a cast headed by the definitive voices of its three central characters – Kevin Conroy (Batman), Tim Daly (Superman) and Clancy Brown (Lex Luthor), the original voices from the landmark Superman: The Animated Series and Batman: The Animated Series.
Burton is forever beloved by the sci-fi crowd for his memorable performance as Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation and its feature film versions. However, Burton has done far more than go “where no man has gone before.”
In a career that essentially launched with his breakthrough performance in the landmark miniseries Roots, Burton has garnered seven Emmy Awards, three Image Awards, a Peabody as well as a Grammy, and in 1990 was permanently enshrined as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Paramount has announced the Blu-ray and DVD editions of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will arrive on October 20, 2009. The Blu-ray edition contains a huge amount of extras, that gives viewers nearly three more hours of content.
From the trauma of war in Oliver Stone films to hospital humor on Scrubs, John C. McGinley has covered the acting gamut. But in his latest role – as the voice of Metallo in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies – McGinley finally gets to delve into a characterization he has rarely been offered: pure villainy.
McGinley voices one of the featured villains in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, a blockbuster blast of super heroes and villains alike that includes the voices of Kevin Conroy (Batman), Tim Daly (Superman), Clancy Brown (Lex Luthor), Allison Mack (Power Girl), Xander Berkeley (Captain Atom), Ricardo Chavira (Major Force), LeVar Burton (Black Lightning), CCH Pounder (Amanda Waller) and a host of others.
Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation are set to release the all-new Superman/Batman: Public Enemies on September 29, 2009 in a Blu-Ray™ Hi-Def edition, a special edition 2-disc DVD, and a single disc DVD. Warner Home Video will distribute the action-packed movie, which will also be available OnDemand and Pay-Per-View as well as available for download that same day.

Have you ever read a book, listened to an album, or watched a movie where at the end, you couldn’t decide whether or not you liked it? You think “This book/album/movie seemed good enough, so why can’t I say I liked it?” I know I have. I usually get this weird, uneasy feeling whenever this happens. Luckily for the majority of you, you don’t have to sit down and write a review about your experience. So bear with me folks, as I attempt to review the film Free Enterprise, and maybe discern whether or not I ultimately liked it or not.
What would you do for the ultimate comic collection? I’m not talking about a few years worth of Betty & Veronica or a couple dozen Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen, all brown and wrinkled from years of neglect. I mean nearly every issue the “Big Two” have put out for the last 50 or so years. Every. Single. Issue. The Clone Saga. The Death of Superman. Justice League Antarctica. Various Crises and a multitude of epic battles, destined to change the universe forever… until the next epic battle changes the universe forever again. It’s all there.
I gotta say, I like the art style in this trailer for the upcoming Planet Hulk animated movie from Marvel.
Thanks for the heads-up Stacy B!
