Josh Howard, scribe and artist behind Dead@17 has posted a preview of some of the pages from the upcoming Dead@17 Compendium (coming sometime soon).

Take the jump for some wonderful color art, but be warned; if you are one of those sensitive types or might get in trouble for viewing images of girls in their underwears duking it out with demons, you might want to wait until no one is around.

Dead@17 Update

Thursday, October 25th, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

deadat17cover.jpgJosh Howard has updated his blog site with info regarding the delays with Dead@17 and other titles.

Dead @ 17: Three issues remain (5-7). At the rate this printing schedule is going, you won’t see them until next year. Plus, Diamond is breathing down my neck threatening cancellation (and understandably so). So what’s the solution? I’m going to make the final three issues available online for free, as they are completed, November through December/January. They won’t see actual print until the trade paperback release (containing all 7 issues) in March. I know it’s not the ideal situation, but I hope it will help make up for the delays.

According to Howard, Lost Books of Eve is on the way - sometime.

Lost Books of Eve and Dead@17 Ending Soon

Friday, June 29th, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

dead4thumb.jpgJosh Howard has been a really busy guy lately, and there has been a great deal of confusion as to when certain issues of Dead@17 and Lost Books of Eve are shipping. According to Mr. Howard himself, things have gotten a bit out of hand lately, and he is going ot end both series earlier than expected.

So, in order to fix the problem, which has begun to adversely affect my sales, Lost Books of Eve will be ending with issue 4, and Dead @ 17 will wrap up with issue 7 this fall. Don’t worry, though…I won’t leave you hanging. The current story arcs for both books will be wrapped up in satisfactory ways. This is what I have to do in order to re-start and get things back on track. I’m going to take a much needed break, but I think it’s safe to say you can expect both books to return sometime next year in some form or another. In the meantime, please enjoy the rest of the series. There are still some really big things in store…and if you’ve read the current issue of Dead, you know I’m not kidding.

Bummer - Dead@17 has always been on my must read list, and as much as I’ve gushed about Howard’s other works, it’s sad we’ll be without for a while. Hopefully everything will be sorted out and we’ll see more work sooner, than later.

Dead@17: The Movie - Two Days Only!

Monday, June 18th, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

I don’t remember if I mentioned it or not, but some creative types, got the go ahead from Josh Howard to produce an independent Dead@17 fan film. The film is finished, and Dread Central is hosting the film for the next 48 hours for all to see. Actually it’s less than 48 hours now, the film will be removed from the site Tuesday, June 19th - better get it now, or hope someone snags it and puts it up on the torrent.

It’s more of a teaser for something bigger, but it gets the general feel of the series right.

If you haven’t been checking out Josh Howard’s site, you’ve been missing out on some fantastic art he’s been cranking out lately. The one that has caught my fancy at the moment is this awesome looking take on Supergirl.

Take the jump for the full image, and a couple that might just blow your mind.

Dead@17 Movie

Don’t worry, it’s only a fan film, and a short one at that.

Well, not exactly. But fan and short film maker Mark Steensland has begun work on his own Dead @ 17 short film adapting the first issue of the original series. While not an “official” production and techically considered a fan film, Mark nonetheless has my blessing and I can’t wait to see the final product.

Dead@17 Figure Prototype

Saturday, January 27th, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

picon.jpgJosh Howard has posted images of the final sculpt for the Dead@17 Nara action figure. I like how this is looking and can’t wait to see the final paint job. I wonder if her outfit will be painted normally, or if it will be splattered in blood?

Best of 2006

Monday, January 1st, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

bestoftheyearsmall.jpgWhile I have no problem writing Best Of and Top Ten lists, this is my first year coming up with a Best Of list for comics, and it has been a real challenge. First there is the whole “thousands of titles out there” deal, then there is the fact that these kinds of lists are a touchy subject to write. What may be on my Best Of list, is on the @$$ List for someone else. Regardless, it’s time to look back over the year and see what was tops when it came to comics.

What If…Josh Howard Drew Batgirl?

Thursday, December 14th, 2006--by Stephen Schleicher

It’s pretty obvious I’ve become a Josh Howard fan over the last six months. I dig his art style, and think his writing skills have matured to the point where he is really developing a strong storyline with Dead@17. Over the next couple of months, we’ll see Howard release Eve, and Sasquatch, but what if he were to draw Batgirl?

Head over to Josh’s blog site to see the full version. I wonder if he’d sell it to me for cheap? (grin).

Dead@17 #2

Sunday, November 26th, 2006--by Stephen Schleicher

reviewbubble.jpgpicon.jpgDemons from outer space

Josh Howard continues his reboot of the Dead@17 Universe with new characters and situations, but the end is still the same – hard rockin, demon butt-kicking.  Although not much of that is going on…yet.  Our new hero ended up dead last issue, but as we might expect, she doesn’t stay dead for long.

Dead@17 Gets Nara Figure

Friday, November 17th, 2006--by Stephen Schleicher

Are you a fan of Dead@17 like we are?  Josh Howard has posted photos on his site at the early prototype of Nara from the first series.

While it is still in the rough stage, Howard say it is shaping up nicely, with the face pretty much dead on.

Dead@17

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006--by Stephen Schleicher

01cover.jpgSame world, new characters

Viper Comics Dead@17, is one of those titles you will either love or hate, but given the chance you might find yourself scouring the bins for the back issues, and collected volumes.

I was first intrigued by Dead@17, when I first came across Josh Howard’s artwork for the cover of the first issue on the Viper Comics website. A hot girl, in a school girl uniform, wielding an axe, killing zombies, and she’s dead? How can you not want to read it?
