Tom Welling has signed up for the 9th season of The CW’s Smallville series, causing many fans to cry, ‘WHY!?” and others to proclaim, “Tom Welling is my love god!” Granted, I don’t know who those people are who are screaming about the love god part (Matthew), but considering the show is going for season 9, there has to be a large enough fan base of Tom Welling lovers out there (Matthew). While it’s great to see an ongoing superhero series on television, I can’t help but feel sad we won’t be seeing Lana back as a regular.
For the rest of us (not Matthew), check out two pics of Serinda Swan who plays Zatanna in an upcoming episode. Oh, and be on the lookout for the Legion to return in the May finale, Matthew.
Is a Smallville reboot on the way? Perhaps everyone will get mind wiped at the end of the episode, or more than likely, a dream sequence. Tori Spelling as Linda Lake? Man, I really need to spend a weekend with catching up with all the shows on my TiVo.
Smallville: Superhero Gone Wild airs March 12, 2009.
One of my favorite television series of last year, Reaper, is set to make its return on March 3, 2009 on The CW.

Good news for Reaper fans, the CW has announced it is bringing back the show early for the spring season.
The move puts “Reaper” at 8 p.m. Tuesdays followed by “90210,” a shake-up that protects the teen soap from Fox’s “American Idol.” “Reaper” will still air its 13 episodes straight, through without repeats as originally planned.
I like the idea of airing all the episodes in a row without a rerun, but still find myself confused as to why Reaper keeps getting a mid-season slot instead of a full year. Last year it was one of the best shows on television, and one of the best shows on The CW, right behind Smallville.
Plus it has that incredibly hot Missy Peregrym.
Did someone say Missy Peregrym? That can only mean one thing — hot girl gallery after the jump!

Don’t forget the Legion of Super-Heroes make their debut on the CW’s Smallville January 15, 2009. Looks like it is going to be an excellent episode, and my TiVo is already set.
Check your local listings for actual times in your area, and don’t forget Pres. Bush is asking networks to air his farewell address to the nation, which could skew start times for the show.

Marvel Animation has posted the episode rundown and descriptions for the upcoming second season of The Spectacular Spider-Man. There was a huge amount of buzz over season one (we even reviewed it on the Major Spoilers Podcast), and season two looks even better.
Canadians get to see the new episodes in January, while us ‘mericans have to wait until March. And no, Gwen Stacy doesn’t die this season.
You’ve probably already seen this, but just in case you haven’t, here’s the trailer for the new Smallville episode featuring everyone’s favorite teen trio from the future – the Legion of Super-Heroes.
Just as I hoped, it looks like the Legion have traveled to the past to fight Braniac, who has taken over Chloe’s body (oh noze!).

We’ve already told you about Alex Johnson playing Saturn Girl in the upcoming Smallville episode featuring the Legion of Super-Heroes. IMDB has updated the show’s cast naming Ryan Kennedy as Cosmic Boy and Calum Worthy as Lightning Lad.
The scheduled date for the show is in January, which just so happens to be the same month the Legion of Super-Heroes comic ends with issue #50. Nice timing. Of course the first appearance of the Legion occurred in Adventure Comics #247, and DC is wisely launching a new Adventure Comics series in February, so maybe someone is on the ball after all…. BWA-HA-HA-HA! Who am I kidding?

I’ve seen the rumors floating around teh Intrawebs for a couple of weeks, but it looks more official now. Canadian actress Alexz Johnson will play Saturn Girl in a Geoff Johns written episode of the CW’s Smallville. The Legion of Super Heroes episode will also feature Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lad and airs November 27, 2008.

Averting one of the biggest mistakes that could ever happen, the CW has announced it is scrapping plans to develop the Graysons television series featuring Dick “DJ” Grayson. The brains behind the decsion? Warner Bros. Pictures Group Jeff Robinov. Of course he’s also the brains that approved the plan in the first place, but I’ll give him credit for coming to his senses.
“The studio has opted not to go forward with the development of ‘The Graysons’ at this time as the concept doesn’t fit the current strategy for the Batman franchise,” the studio said in a statement. “Warner Bros. Television is currently working on several replacement options for the CW.”
Considering the success of The Dark Knight, and the new direction Warner is taking with its superhero franchise, it makes sense to pull the plug now. Other reasons include Christopher Nolan being uncomfortable with a Bat-themed television story as he felt it could impact the movie. Well duh. Had the television series gone forward with the crap ladden premise we all learned about a couple of weeks ago, it could have. But if anyone thinks a well done television series that is faithful to the characters wouldn’t boost movie attendance, there’s something wrong. Of course the total wiping of the Bat-family of titles could have also played a part in everything going on too.
We’ll never know what would have been as the CW never even got around to the script writing stage, so don’t expect some iTunes pilot release down the road in the “what might have been” category. Variety reports Warner Bros. TV is now looking for a new franchise to develop for the CW. If you want something set in the Batman universe, might I suggest G.C.P.D?

With the fate of the next season of Smallville still up in the air, Warner Bros. is getting ready for a replacement, or a “sidekick” of a show in the just approved pilot “Graysons”. But don’t think this new series will follow the adventures of Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne as Batman and Robin, expect the Graysons to follow a very Smallville like premise that features the young Dick “DJ” Grayson before his parents met their untimely demise, before being taken under the wing of Batman, and a long, long time before becoming Nightwing.
In the one-hour “Graysons,” which will be set in modern times, young DJ will face challenges involving first loves, young rivals and his family as he grows up. Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson have come up with an original take on the character.
I have some mixed feelings about this. Yes, it is cool that Warners is looking for a way to exploit one of its more popular characters. But to adopt the “never wears a cape and tights” attitude as it has with Smallville, just doesn’t sit well with me.
Look for the pilot to makes its bow next year.

Geoff Johns has announced he is writing an espisode of the CW’s Smallville that will feature the Legion of Super-Heroes.
“I can’t get into any specifics about the story we’re telling because we’re still working on it all. But they’re from the 31st Century. And it will be focusing on some obvious characters who first met Clark,” Johns said. “It will be written to fit with Smallville, and I think it’s going to be a really fun challenge to approach the Legion in a different way. But with me, you know you’re going to see Legion rings, and they’re going to be as true to the core as possible. It’s going to be the Legion of Super-Heroes.”
Does anyone remember the Legion of Super-Heroes episode from Superman: The Animated Series (Season 3 – New Kids in Town)? That was a great introduction of the LoSH into Clark Kent’s life, and I hope they do something like that in the show.

Josh LeBar draws on all kinds of life experiences when giving voice to Flash Thompson for “The Spectacular Spider-Man.”
LeBar, best known for his role as agent Ari Gold’s arch rival Josh Weinstein on HBO’s “Entourage,” has lived the life of both a prep jock and an aspiring super hero … so taking on Flash Thompson’s persona wasn’t much of a reach.
