Operation Save Clark Kent nabbed a bunch of images from the upcoming “Idol” episode of Smallville, that features the debut of the Wonder Twins. They don’t particularly look like twins, or aliens, nor does it look like they form water, or an eagle. Also absent is a monkey. At least they are wearing purple! The other preview images at the site looks like the twins are going to try and pull a “I am Spartacus!” moment at some point…
The hot story hitting the Intardwebz has Kelly Souders, executive producer of Smallville, pushing for a tenth season.
“We are really, really pushing for season 10,” Souders said, adding, “I think the word still isn’t out there that we’re on Friday nights. So if people keep tuning in and telling their friends about it, I think [a 10th season] is quite likely.”
My TiVo down in the Major Spoilers Theater has silently been recording Smallville for the last two seasons, waiting for me to find the time to sit down and catch up on all the fun. Can the TiVo handle another season? And for that matter, do you want to see a 10th season of the alternate DC Universe series?
A couple of casting announcements have been made for the upcoming Justice Society episode of Smallville. Michael Shanks, of Stargate fame, has been cast as Hawkman, while Brent Stait of Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods will be donning the golden helmet of Doctor Fate. Smallville has been pretty notorious for changing up the powers/look of classic DC characters for the television series, so I’m not entirely confident we’ll see either of the actors done their respective costumes for the Geoff Johns penned episode.
That’s the question that arises from the latest casting call for the CW’s Smallville.
[NEW SEXY SUPERHERO] Male – 37 – 48 yr. old. All ethnicities. He is the most handsome and sexy of ALL the D.C Superheros. Actor must have a fantastic physique. GUEST STAR. Dates are approximately 10-26 thru 11-3-09
Buddy Baker? Michael Carter? Ted Grant? Zatara? Throw out your suspects, and we’ll see if you are right when the Glen Winter directed episode airs.
According to TV, Zan and Jayna (and space monkey Gleep) will be making an appearance in the 9th season of the CW’s Smallville. The Wonder Twins are scheduled to pop up in episode 8, but don’t expect pointy ears – viewers will see purple outfits, and see the duo transform into a sheet of ice and a cougar (presumably the animal kind and not the older woman on the prowl for a still young(?) Tom Welling).
That sounds cool, but what about another super-team appearance?
There is one, and you’ll have to take the jump for that reveal.
For those who haven’t seen the Smallville Superman costume in clear detail, here is Tom Welling sporting his black and silver duds for the season nine season opener (Sept. 25, 2009).

Watch closely and you will see the uniform.

We mentioned it months ago here on the Major Spoilers site, now TV Guide has the first look at Brian Austin Green as Metallo in the two-part season premiere of Smallville. Looks freakishly awesome. I like how the whole piece just sinks into the skin and a cyborg killing machine kind of way, instead of the loose, fall off the robot, plastic skin in Superman: The Animated Series.
Smalleville kicks off season nine on September 25, 2009.
Geoff Johns announced during the Smallville panel that he is writing an episode called Society that introduces the Justice Society of America to the Smallville universe.
Also announced during the panel is word that Allison Mack and Tom Welling will both direct episodes this season. And as we hinted at the other day, Clark Kent will don the Superman suit in the season’s debut episode. The producers do want the series to go to a 10th season, and are hoping the shows move to Friday night will help that. The appearance of Zod, played by Callum Blue, will help that as well.
The panel members also said they read all the blogs that talk about the shows – even when the talk is “mean”. Hello everyone from Smallville, take a look around, we have more Smallville stuff here too. Perhaps you might get Erica Durance to stop by and say hello…
Well, duh, we already know Clark Kent is Superman and has been on the Smallville television series for the last 9 years, but one has to remember the Superman costume, and powers like flying have been kept strictly on the down-low to avoid mixing the Smallville universe with the DC in-continuity one.
That might all change come Sunday when it MIGHT be announced that Superman’s outfit will make an appearance in the season premiere of season 9 – aptly titled “Superman”.
Does this mean we might see Tom Welling take over the film franchise down the road? Another rumor has a made for television movie called Metropolis in the works for The CW.
Keep in mind, both of these are rumors for now, but we should have a better idea of what is going to happen on Sunday.

Warner Bros. Entertainment is bringing it’s two-story 3,000 square foot convention booth to San Diego this year during Comic-Con International, and they just released who and what will be at the show on the television side. If you love The Big Bang Theory as much as we do, get a kick out of Fringe and Smallville, or just want to get an early glimpse of the upcoming The Target series, you’ll want to be at the show.

Smallville fans who are waiting to find out who has been cast as Zod in the next season of Smallville are going to have to wait a while longer, but in the meantime, TVGuide.com found out another bit of information. Brian Austin Green has been cast as John Corben. That’s right, Metallo is coming to Smallville in season 9.
The Smallville producers are going to dive into the Silver Age, by making Corben a reporter for the Daily Planet, instead of a crazed scientist (Golden Age), a petty thief (Modern Age), or Lex Luthor lacky (Superman: The Animated Series). According to the CW, the new season of Smallville debuts on Friday, September 25.
I’m digging the Huntress vibe Lois Lane is giving off in tonight’s episode of Smallville – but come on, Stiletto?

Tom Welling has signed up for the 9th season of The CW’s Smallville series, causing many fans to cry, ‘WHY!?” and others to proclaim, “Tom Welling is my love god!” Granted, I don’t know who those people are who are screaming about the love god part (Matthew), but considering the show is going for season 9, there has to be a large enough fan base of Tom Welling lovers out there (Matthew). While it’s great to see an ongoing superhero series on television, I can’t help but feel sad we won’t be seeing Lana back as a regular.
For the rest of us (not Matthew), check out two pics of Serinda Swan who plays Zatanna in an upcoming episode. Oh, and be on the lookout for the Legion to return in the May finale, Matthew.
Is a Smallville reboot on the way? Perhaps everyone will get mind wiped at the end of the episode, or more than likely, a dream sequence. Tori Spelling as Linda Lake? Man, I really need to spend a weekend with catching up with all the shows on my TiVo.
Smallville: Superhero Gone Wild airs March 12, 2009.
