I’ve been wondering when Boom! Studios would tackle more Lovecraft titles and bring more creatures from the Cthulhu mythos to print. The answer is December, when H.P. Lovecraft’s prose poem, Nyarlathotep is brought to life in a 32-page hard cover tome, illustrated by Chuck BB.
“I was absolutely excited to take on a Lovecraft project,” said illustrator extraordinaire Chuck BB. “What appeals to me so much about Lovecraft’s writing is that he is able to express a level of scariness that is less about spooking you, and more about making you feel small and insignificant in an unexplored world. Lovecraft speaks of a force that is beyond the comprehension of human beings, bigger than any religion could possibly offer, and older than time itself.”
Take the jump for a quick sneak peek of the adaptation.

Okay, I have to admit, I’ve been bad. But I am about to try and make up for it.
I’ve heard all the love that the guys here at Major Spoilers have been heaping on BOOM! Studios. I’d heard that they had won the “Best New Publisher” award from Wizard Magazine. I’ve listened to the podcasts and read the reviews. Despite all that, I really did not think that BOOM! had anything for me as a comic reader. Well tonight, while I was getting caught up on listening to the podcasts, I heard Stephen’s interview with Chip Mosher, the Marketing and Sales Director for Boom Studios. Something about it finally got the better of me and I decided to check BOOM! Studios out.
That is what brought me to review FALL OF CTHULHU #11, by Michael Alan Nelson. Now whereas I know nothing about the first ten issues, I do know a little about the Cthulhu mythos, having read quite a bit of Lovecraft during a misspent youth. The first thing I noticed about this book was the use of location names from the Cthulhu world, such as the Miskatonic University. After I finished I saw that, as advertised, it is a great jumping on point for new readers. My lack of knowledge regarding the previous storyline(s) had absolutely no effect on how I comprehended this issue.
I’m gonna file this in the WTF category.

Yes, it is an actual poster that you can pick up this week from Boom! Studios. It could be worse, it could be this. And at least it’s not this.
All joking aside, I think this is a fun poster (as is anything Cthulhu related), and according to Boom! Studios, it selling quite well.

If you didn’t make it to your comic shop today, Boom! Studios has sent the cover images and solicitation information for titles shipping this week. The big release is Mark Waid’s Potter’s Field 1, but my money is on the last issue of Cover Girl.
Dynamite Entertainment has let Major Spoilers know this March will see the debut of Savage Tales #1. What’s cool about this incarnation of Savage Tales is the rotating cast of characters from Red Sonja and the Hunter, Cthulhu and the Old Ones, Atlantis and more.
