While it looks like something Iron Man would wear, it’s the X-Men that inspired this pyrotechnic wonder.  I just hope Johnny Knoxville doesn’t get a hold of this.

Last year, we had a plethora of entrants. Let’s make this year even better than the last!

The 10th annual Baltimore Comic-Con took place October 10th and 11th at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland.  This was my first year attending the show and also marked the first time I would be wearing my Supergirl outfit to a convention (my only other public appearance was at a grand opening of a comic store). I was also pretty excited about Major Spoilers “Spot the cosplayer” contest and wondered if anyone would recognize my boyfriend and I from the site.

This past weekend at the Baltimore Comic Con, attendees were challenged to find Major Spoilers’ own Victoria as she and her boyfriend Brian strolled through the convention center having fun.   Those who had their picture taken with the duo, and sent them to us, were entered into a chance to win an Atomic Robo statue.  Yesterday, we collected the entries, and drew the name, with Paul Lombard coming out on top as the winner.

Congratulations Paul! And thanks to everyone who entered the contest.  For those who didn’t, there is still a chance for you to win even more prizes in the 3rd Annual Major Spoilers Costume Contest.  Entries are due October 25, so don’t wait!

We’re getting a late start this year, but better late than never – It’s the 2009 Major Spoilers Costume Contest!  We want you to help us celebrate the upcoming Halloween holiday by having you – yes you – send us pictures of your bad self dressed up as your favorite comic book hero (or villain or side-kick, you get the idea). The best costume will not only be hailed as the Grand Prize Winner in Major Spoilers’ Costume Contest you’ll also win your choice of a superhero wall graphic from Fat Head (www.fathead.com).

We’ve got a couple of these on the walls of the Major Spoilers HQ, and they turn a boring room into a “super” one.

At the recent Wizard World Philadelphia convention (which took place this past June) there was a particular cosplayer getting an enormous amount of attention and upon laying eyes on him, it was easy to see why. With his tailored purple suit, white makeup and sly grin it looked as if The Joker had sprung to life from Batman: The Animated Series. It’s easy to say that he was a big hit among those attending the con to the point that people were lining up and taking turns to be photographed with him.

Fast forward three months later and I stumbled upon the cosplayers online profile. His name is Paul and I discovered that he has a very impressive collection of costumes. After witnessing his impact on the convention crowd and being highly interested in him myself, I took this opportunity to interview him for Major Spoilers about the hobby of cosplay.

Over at the Atomic Robo website, the Robo creators have posted an image of the most kick-assiest kick-ass costume of Atomic Robo.  Devin has done some tremendous work (more pics after the jump), and I’m hoping he enters the Third Annual Major Spoilers Costume Contest when it kicks off next month.

Supergirl's been knocked out by plastic pieces of Kryptonite! There's only one way to save her - ask your question about Cosplaying today!

Everyone seems to be taken by the latest addition to the Major Spoilers family and her interest in Cosplay.  She’s already offered some suggestions for would be cosplayers, and talked about some of her experiences, but now she wants to hear from you! The Cosplay girl wants to answer your questions about cosplay – anything goes, as long as it is on topic.

For those of you who are thinking of entering the Third Annual Major Spoilers Costume Content, now might be a good time to use the comment section below to ask your questions. Then over the weekend, we’ll round up the best ones and let Victoria have a go at answering your questions.

I’m often asked how I got into the hobby of cosplay and surprisingly enough my answer is simple; I saw something that I wanted to try, loved it and have been cosplaying now for the past three years. The first exposure I had to the wonderful world of cosplay were photos of a beautiful Japanese woman dressed as Rikku from the video game Final Fantasy X. I was intrigued that someone put so much time and detail into the outfit. She truly looked like Rikku come to life which instantly captured my imagination. How much fun it must be, I wondered to portray a character you love. Unlike Halloween, which only allows you to dress up once a year, cosplay gives you the opportunity to wear a costume for conventions and photo shoots.
