17 June 2008 (Berkeley, CA) - This upcoming weekend, Charlotte, NC’s HeroesCon once again plays host to Image Comics, with guests and panels galore!
“HeroesCon is a darned fine funnybook show,” Image Comics Publisher Erik Larsen said. “In an age when outside media like movies and video games have taken over most conventions, Shelton Drumm and his dedicated team consistently keep Heroes focused on what matters most to those of us in the world of contemporary pictorial literature - a bona-fide COMIC BOOK convention that’s fun for the whole family!”
In addition to the overwhelming number of Image creators attending, Image will be spotlighted on a total of three panels including the State of the Industry Discussion, Friday at 1:30, featuring Image Comics Publisher Erik Larsen in room 207. Saturday brings Tori Amos’ COMIC BOOK TATTOO panel at 12:00PM and The Image Comics Show at 4:00 PM, both in room 217BCD. Jon, from Double Dumbass On You.com attended Wizard World Philly this past weekend, and ran into any number of Skrulls running around the show floor. If there was this much Skrull cosplay on the show floor this year, I can’t wait until Marvel Apes hits store shelves.
Take the jump for Jon’s complete report and a better look at ol’ green chin.

Do we really need another zombie tale set in the Marvel Universe? According to Fred Van Lente, the answer is yes. In the next installment, one of the zombies escapes from zombie world and stumbles into Marvel 616 territory, thus making Marvel Zombies an in continuity title.
“Marvel Zombies 3” will focus on a different group of zombies than Kirkman and Phillips’ books. “This is partly because ‘MZ3’ is set in a very specific period of ‘MZ’ continuity,” Van Lente explained. “For fear of giving away too much, I’m going to tell you when, exactly. But let’s just say the pursuit of sweet, sweet human flesh makes for some odd allies.”
The four issue mini-series will debut in October. I don’t know about you, but the zombie genre has overstayed its welcome.

Now here is a San Diego Comic Con figure exclusive I’m actually excited about. With all the hoopla surrounding the return of the Skrulls - or rather the revealing of the Skrulls that have been around for a long time - Diamond Select Toys has unveiled the Elektra Skrull action figure.
In addition to getting Matt Murdock’s girlfriend all glammed up in green paint and funky chin (sorry no Jennifer Garner likeness), the seven-inch figure will also include a variety of martial arts weapons, and interchangeable arms and legs. Best of all the figure is packed with her very own Skrull soldier - not just any Skrull soldier, but the creepy old school outfit Skrull.
The Skrull two-pack will be available at the San Diego Comic Convention for $20.
