One of the Legion of Spoilerites attending the Armageddon Comic Con in New Zealand dropped us a quick note from one of the panels. The attendee told us that Greg Rucka let slip that Dennis O’Neil would be working with him on the Blackest Night: The Question issue. This news hasn’t been announced from DC yet, and the January solicitations don’t mention O’Neil anywhere in the issue info, so for now, we’ll say O’Neil is rumored to be working with Rucka until something more official is announced.
Thanks for the head’s up Dan!
The 10th annual Baltimore Comic-Con took place October 10th and 11th at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland. This was my first year attending the show and also marked the first time I would be wearing my Supergirl outfit to a convention (my only other public appearance was at a grand opening of a comic store). I was also pretty excited about Major Spoilers “Spot the cosplayer” contest and wondered if anyone would recognize my boyfriend and I from the site.
This past weekend at the Baltimore Comic Con, attendees were challenged to find Major Spoilers’ own Victoria as she and her boyfriend Brian strolled through the convention center having fun. Those who had their picture taken with the duo, and sent them to us, were entered into a chance to win an Atomic Robo statue. Yesterday, we collected the entries, and drew the name, with Paul Lombard coming out on top as the winner.
Congratulations Paul! And thanks to everyone who entered the contest. For those who didn’t, there is still a chance for you to win even more prizes in the 3rd Annual Major Spoilers Costume Contest. Entries are due October 25, so don’t wait!
Who’s going to the Baltimore Comic Convention this weekend (October 10th and 11th, at the Baltimore Convention Center)? If you are going on Saturday, pay special attention to all the cosplayers in attendance. If you happen to see the “super” Major Spoilers Victoria at the show, sporting her blond locks and Supergirl get up, you just might be able to win an Atomic Robo statue.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Look for Victoria and her BF Brian at the Baltimore Comic Con.
- Get your picture taken with the two of them.
- Send your picture to contest@majorspoilers.com by October 17, 2009, and you’ll be entered to win this most awesome Atomic Robo statue!
- The Major Spoilers Crew will draw the winner on October 20, 2009 during the recording of the Major Spoilers Podcast.
So what are you waiting for? Get your rear end down to the Baltimore Comic-Con, stalk one of the Major Spoilers own, and possibly win the big prize!
What happens if you happen to be dressed up in costume too? Oh boy, try it and find out!

Comic Con International, the group behind the San Diego Comic-Con has announced it will be limiting the number of people able to get into the Wednesday evening Preview Night event.
Because of the increasing number of attendees on Preview Night each year, we have decided to limit attendance for Preview Night in 2010. It is impossible to accommodate every person who registers for a four-day badge on Preview Night, so we made available four-day memberships with and without the Preview Night option.
Currently, there are no more Preview Night badges available, but there are still four-day memberships still available.

This upcoming weekend the world’s greatest creator-owned and operated publisher, Image Comics, makes a big return to the Baltimore Comic Con including their biggest guest list yet and a very special IMAGE UNITED preview book variant available only at the show!
“It’s good to be back in Baltimore,” Image Comics Chief Operating Officer and IMAGE UNITED writer Robert Kirkman said. “It’s one of the biggest conventions out there with a sole focus on comic books. Everybody here at Image Comics is proud to partner up with Baltimore for our biggest convention presence outside of San Diego Comic Con.”
Kirkman will take part in two panels at the show including The Image Comics Show on Saturday at 1 PM in the Avengers Mansion room. He will be joined by LIBERTY MEADOWS & 50-GIRLS-50’s Frank Cho, GOD COMPLEX & MICE TEMPLAR’s Michael Avon Oeming, ELEPHANTMEN’s Richard Starkings, UNDERGROUND’s Jeff Parker and COWBOY NINJA VIKING’s AJ Lieberman. In addition to everyone giving the first look at upcoming comics, Cho will be announcing the finalists to his 50-GIRLS-50 Talent Search.

Ahhh, conventions. The one place where comic fans, movie nuts, TV geeks, aspiring artists, cosplayers, actors, writers, pencilers, Warsians, Trekkies (Trekkers), Who…vians(?), Battlestar Galactites, and the 3 guys who remember Firefly (joking, of course) can all temporarily let down their “fanboy filters” and collectively geek out. For the past 5 years, I have made it a goal to attend my local convention of choice, Mid-Ohio Con. I have gone so far as to plan my entire year around this one magic weekend. This year seemed destined to be the best Con thus far. And you know what? It was. And I have the pictures to prove it!

The all volunteer, not for for profit Midwest Comic Book Association is pleased and proud to announce that the 21st Annual MCBA FallCon Comic Book Celebration will take place on October 10 & 11, 2009 at Minnesota State Fairgrounds in the Grandstand (1265 Snelling Ave N., Saint Paul, Minnesota 55108).
FallCon, the Midwest’s largest comic book celebration, is a unique regional nexus of graphic literature and the widly diverse communities that fuel it, produce it, and and ultimately consume it. Given the fact that the Midwest has a long standing and somewhat unexplicable reputation of producing a disporportionate number of working comic book & graphic literature professionals, including comic book writers, artists, inkers, etc., as well as being a bredder reactor for new and independent talent, it’s no wonder that FallCon has become one of the leading comic book conventions nationwide amongst the creative community, dealers and especially amongst the fans.
