Or - “You Are Somewhat Distracted By The Second-Person Narrative…”

As a sometimes-retailer, Marvel’s giant “Civil War” crossover is puzzling to me. Virtually all the issues of all the comics Marvel has printed in recent months have been affected, many of them forced to ship late for fear of tipping crucial plot points, and the entire continuity of the Marvel Universe has been tangled up together like the Giant Spaghetti Monster in the sky. As a reader, it’s maddening, as things happen that don’t get explained until weeks later (i.e. the revelation of the spoilery death in “Cable & Deadpool” that wasn’t explained until weeks later), and characters act in ways that frustrate, confuse, and irritate me. I hesitate to use the term “out of character,” because “out of character” is in the eye of the beholder (or in this case, the mind of the writer). Black Panther and Storm’s decision to enter Civil War at the end of Black Panther #21 has sent shockwaves through comic book shops, leading the issue to sell out at Diamond.
Marvel is going back to press with a second printing on Black Panther #21, complete with the fan-favorite Civil War second printing cover treatment. Marvel has also announced that Black Panther #22 will feature the Civil War cover treatments seen on all the CW tie-ins.

Frank Castle is back in the Marvel Universe and unlike others who’ve tip-toed the line between anti and pro-registration, Frank is diving right into the Civil War starting in the all-new ongoing series Punisher War Journal #1. Frank’s not likely to have second thoughts about his role: those who deserve punishment will pay…and the sentence is death.

In the recent Civil War tie-in “Vendetta” story arc running through Wolverine, the feral X-Man and Avenger had been in a plane crash, nearly decapitated, and had all of his flesh burned clear off. In Wolverine #48, the question of even Logan could have survived such injuries is answered.

Or - “War! Hunh! Good gawd, y’all… What is it good for? Absolutely NOTHIN!”
Preach on, Brother Beavis. This summer’s dueling crossover season has been brutal, in more ways than one. I’ve found that I’m reading more limited series, tie-ins, one shots, and reference materials than I am my regular titles. Some of them are good, some bad, some (like Civil War: Front Line) vacillate between awesome and embarrassing. So, how much damage does a tie-in issue do to a young series that has been mostly enjoyable? (more…)

Michael Turner’s Variant for Civil War #5 has been revealed as the next issue of Civil War gets closer and closer.
Civil War #5 is fast approaching and is on track for its on-sale date of November 15th, when the comic world is sure to be rocked by the next important chapter in this universe-changing event.

Civil War is going to get a taste of the incredible in the pages of Incredible Hulk #100 as the seeds are planted for next year’s epic World War Hulk. The milestone centennial issue of Incredible Hulk will feature a back-up story penned by Greg Pak with pencils by Gary Frank bringing to readers a very important Civil War story that examines whether the Illuminati was justified in banishing the Hulk into space. Plus, learn more about the Thor clone that debuted in Civil War #3 and killed Goliath in Civil War #4.

In order to keep the hottest series of the year in stock and on shelves for readers, Marvel is going back to press on the red-hot Civil War #3 with a Thor Returns Variant Cover.
The comic event of the decade just gets bigger and better as the long-missing Thor returned…and was shown to be on the side of the Pro-Registration heroes. The Thunder God’s return in Civil War #3 is one of the biggest comic moments of 2006, making this issue a must-have.
The reaction to Civil War has been tremendous from the beginning and as this event marches on, it keeps getting better and better.
Civil War keeps gaining momentum so be on the lookout for the 2nd printing of Civil War #3 with the Thor Returns Variant Cover.

The Winter Soldier enters the Civil War and the Red Skull lays the groundwork for his greatest revenge in Captain America #23 as the “Drums of War” continue.
Captain America’s life has been completely turned upside down with the passing of the Super Human Registration Act. After the events of last issue, which saw Sharon Carter and Cap’s relationship pushed to the breaking point because of Civil War, things continue to get worse for Steve Rogers.
