The New York Times has an article covering The Dark Knight movie, and has four new photos to boot.

In a political context this would politely be called an “unintended consequence.” (Gotham as Baghdad, anyone?) Mr. Nolan doesn’t deny the overtones. “As we looked through the comics, there was this fascinating idea that Batman’s presence in Gotham actually attracts criminals to Gotham, attracts lunacy,” he said. “When you’re dealing with questionable notions like people taking the law into their own hands, you have to really ask, where does that lead? That’s what makes the character so dark, because he expresses a vengeful desire.”

I got a phone call this weekend from none other than Harvey Dent, asking me – ME to help him with his campaign to get elected as the district attorney of Gotham City.

Of course there’s a catch. You have to head over to I Believe in Harvey Dent and download a bunch of signs and posters that you print out and decorate your office, room, neighborhood.

Following all that fun, take pictures or videos of your Harvey Dent Campaign exploits and you could be a star in Warner Bros. new viral campaign for the upcoming Batman flick.

terminatorcover.jpgThe headline is a bit misleading. What it really should say is Sony buys the rights to distribute the next Terminator movie, staring Batman’s Christian Bale, internationally.

McG will helm the film, the first in a new “Terminator” trilogy that stars Christian Bale as John Connor. The project also reunites John Brancato and Michael Ferris, who partnered to pen “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines,” as well as Moritz Borman, a producer on the 2003 film.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is scheduled to be in theaters in the first half of 2009.

The Dark Knight movie viral website got an update recently, removing the original content and replacing it with the above image. Hmmm… Long Halloween anyone? I would check the site on October 31st to see what happens.

Remember when the viral marketing website for The Dark Knight had a hidden message that said, “See you in December”? Many suspected (myself included) that would be when the first major trailer for the movie would drop, but according to the Omelete, IMAX movies goes may be getting a seven minute preview in front of Will Smith’s I Am Legend.

Very cool news if true, very bad news for those of us without an IMAX theater close by.

Variety had a small tid-bit saying Beatrice Rosen and Joshua Harto have joined the cast of The Dark Knight. There is no info at this time on the parts they are playing, although Harto could be a rather convincing Jimmy Olsen if they were looking to inject some World’s Finest into the flick.

I’m not going to outright spoil it for you this time, but a person on set reported on a funeral scene being filmed for the Dark Knight movie, and someone important dies.

A “Dark Knight Returns” spoiler from a Gutterati working across the road from filming. He described, “a funeral scene being filmed. Tons of white flowers, and all sorts of people dressed to the nines. And, low and behold, on top of the coffin is a large framed picture.

To find out who it is, read his interview at Superhero Hype.

And if you missed it before, Yahoo! Movies has the first Dark Knight Teaser Trailer in HD (that’s high-definition for the Luddites).

Rumors are flying fast and furious over the Justice League of America movie. We’ve had reports that the Big Seven would be featured in the film, but that was followed up a few days later with info that neither Brandon Routh nor Christian Bale would be involved in the project. So what gives?

IESB has been trying to put all the pieces together and has come up with a possible answer – The Justice League of America movie will be an all CGI affair.

This explains why Happy Feet director George Miller is set to direct the piece.

This would put our League of Superheroes in a world much like Paramounts Beowulf or Cameron’s Avatar, where they could hire any actor they wanted and tweak and change them accordingly.

If this is indeed the case, then I’m all for it. I think you would be able to do so much more in a full CGI environment than you could using live actors. But instead of going the Polar Express route, I would hope the look of the film is closer to Final Fantasy – now that would rock.

The only issue I have with the rumor as it stands right now is the fact that the movie only seems to feature the main heroes. If it is CGI, I say make a full on all CGI Justice League Unlimited that is a direct follow up to the animated series. Not only would that rock balls it could even cause the DVD sales of the multi-season show to get a boost, and would allow everyone a chance to see their favorite superhero in action. It’s just too bad New Frontier is getting the direct to DVD treatment, as I’d pay movie theater prices to see that story all CGI and on the big screen.

Who’s with me? Do you want to see a stand alone JLA movie that is seperate from everything, or would you rather see JLU in CGI?

Thanks Bill for the tip!

And before you get all worked up, the image at the top is not tied to the movie, but rather something someone put together a few years ago.

christianbale_1.jpgDuring a press junket for 3:10 to Yuma, Christian Bale was asked if he would be in the Justice League of America movie.

Bale, who plays Batman again in The Dark Knight, said he is not, and we don’t really expect him to. He’ll probably stick with his current franchise with director Christopher Nolan.

That pretty much shoots the team movie in the foot from the start, as audiences could get confused by potentially two Batmen out at the same time. Remember JLA is being fast tracked for a summer 2009 release, and the third Nolan Batman movie could bow in 2010 or 2011. If Bale wanted to capitalize on the franchise, he’d agree to the League movie and still do the third Bat-flick, and still have plenty of time left in his career for the next deranged killer movie. But that’s just me.

With Batman up in the air at the moment, who do you want to see done the tights and stalk the night in the Justice League Movie?

Hollywood Chicago landed a sweet scoop on what part Anthony Michael Hall will be playing in the warner Bros. The Dark Knight movie.

Yeah… I’m not going to spoil it here, you’ll have to take the jump.

Man, I hate it when really clean and clear images are posted throughout the Interwebs and suddenly they have to be taken down because they aren’t authorized. If 20 or so photos have already been leaked online and nearly every (and I mean every) website is linking to them, then what’s the big deal? But to avoid the dreaded C&D letter, I’m taking down the photos. You can probably still find them out there somewhere, just not here. I know, I know…what a bummer.

Kung Fu Rodeo has a slew of photos from the Dark Knight movie. Take the jump for a few of them, then head over to the Kung Fu Rodeo site before their all gone.

Warning: Potential Spoilers Ahead!

leahy.jpgCNN is reporting Senator Patrick Leahy has landed a part in the upcoming Dark Knight movie.

Leahy is apparently a big comic book enthusiast, and actually served as an extra in the 1997 Batman installment: Batman and Robin.

The senator told the station he can’t reveal the exact details of his role in the upcoming movie, but he did say he has landed a scene with its two stars, Christian Bale and Heath Ledger.
