Or – “Former Captain America Steve Rogers Is STILL Dead, But That Could Change At Any Moment…”

The most recent Previews gives us the news that this series will be running an additional issue before the Captain America series restarts in January with #602. (It’s really NOT #602, by the way…) Steve Rogers’ return to the land of the living is pretty much fait accompli, and the solicitations have already given us hints of what he’s going to do once he’s actually returned from the bleedin’ choir invisibule. Of course, the main problem we have is that at this point in time, HE’S NOT ACTUALLY BACK YET. Wanna see how this all works out? Read on, MacDuff, and let slip the squirrels of war.

Chris Stevens never fails to impress me. Especially with the commission work when he uses mixed media. Today, we offer up Chris’ take on Captain America, and the Hulk.
Or – “This Just In: Former Captain America Steve Rogers Is STILL Dead…

But it looks like he’s gettin’ less so all the time…
Or – “This Just In: Former Captain America Steve Rogers Is Sorta Kinda Still Dead…”

*”Aren’t you supposed to be dead?” as translated from the German through a crushed larynx…
Or – “How Do You Follow Up A Huge Anniversary Issue?”

Some people would go with a high-speed storyline rocketing you into the future, showing the new direction and showcasing what the new character(s) are going to be doing. Marvel took a different approach with this issue, looking backward to the original Captain America in a World War II setting. Question is: does it WORK?
I’ll admit it, I purchased Captain America #600 and #601 on day of release, but both issues have sat in my To Read pile since. For those who were hoping to get their hands on the issue, but weren’t able to because of people like me, Marvel announced the issue is going back to press, arriving at comic book stores on August 26, 2009.
Or – “This Just In… Former Captain America Steve Rogers Is Still Dead, Perhaps.”

The first thought that I had upon picking up this book, alleged to be a huge bombshell and to reveal the giant hidden workings of the Marvel Universe and the Red Skull’s mind? “Man, this Bryan Hitch art looks exactly like his Ultimate Captain America.” Is this mere coincidence? Or harbinger of something more going on within the book?
