The naked physiques of Eva Mendes, Pamela Anderson and Alicia Silverstone have rocked billboards, buildings, and magazines for years as celebs take it off for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).  Bluewater Productions is also getting into the act with its own “We’d rather go naked than wear fur” campaign.

“We are excited to be part of this national campaign series,” says publisher Darren G. Davis. “To have our characters be the first comic book in this historical campaign is something I am proud of. One of our upcoming comic stories will feature PETA and the fur issue.”

The poster is painted by Azim Akberali and features the 10th Muse, Legend of Isis (both optioned for feature films), Judo Girl and Scarlet.  See the full image after the jump.

CAROLINEKENNEDY.jpg

Bluewater Productions has announced Caroline Kennedy will be the next featured influential woman in the company’s Female Force comic series.

Bluewater chose Kennedy as its next comic book subject before the news broke of her interest in New York politics. “She was on the short list before all the hype about the Senate seat. She is an amazing person who has done a lot for education,” said publisher Darren G. Davis.

“I hope readers enjoy my rendition of one of the most influential families in political history,” said artist Vinnie Tartamella.

The issue is expected to be in stores in June, 2009.

FREECOMICBOOKDAYBLUEWATER.jpg

Bluewater Productions has announced it will have a special one-shot collector’s edition of William Shatner Presents in time for Free Comic Book Day.  Included in the anthology is an original prologue story from the upcoming Tek War series.

This 12-page prequel takes place 4 years before the initial storyline.  The story centers on protagonist Jake Cardigan’s arrest and conviction for murder as well as Tek trafficking.  The story also  leaves several clues as to important plot points that will happen in the series.  We get an insiders look at the Tek War universe and the history behind Jake’s  troubled past.

I knew William Shatner was the mind behind Tek War, but I did not know Quest for Tomorrow and Man O’ War were also inspired from this acting legend.  Stories from those two series will also appear in the FCBD edition.  While William Shatner will be producing and editing eachof the series with Craig Nevius, there will be specific writin teams for each series.

The complete breakdown of the issue can be found after the jump.

COVERS.jpg

Former Alias titles Victoria’s Secret Service and Judo Girl are getting the trade treatment in December, thanks to Bluewater Productions.

Judo Girl is a woman on a mission: after having spent 40-years in suspended animation, she searches for her missing brother. And Captain Steel hasn’t exactly spent the last four decades collecting rust either.  Indeed, his awful plans are about to solidify on a worldwide scale. On the flip side is a retro story set during the era of go-go boots and slot cars revealing the secret origin of the original Steel Ray! Martial art meets pop art; both the modern story and the retro story tie in together for one fantastic adventure!

They say it takes a thief to catch a thief, and the glamorous field agents of VSS put this tenant to the test when they allow their newest member, the American sneak-thief Scarlet, to take point on her first full mission: hoping to derail on imminent coronation, an unknown scoundrel has stolen the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London. It’s up to Lark, Raven, Brooke, and Scarlet to steal back these vibrant symbols of the monarchy they have be paid to protect. But which of her teammates is spying on Scarlet? And why? It’s thief versus thief and spy versus spy in this high-impact thriller.

Of the two, I like Judo Girl.  It’s a different take on action adventure titles, with a lot of humor and some really nice art.

BELLINGHAM, WA— October 27, 2008— in 2009, Bluewater and Lionsgate will be developing a line of comic books based on the cult/ horror favorite films “Leprechaun” and “Warlock”.  After their successful series “Vincent Price Presents” Bluewater delivers more horror to comics.

“Working with Lionsgate on this end is like coming back full circle for me.  I worked on the marketing for “Leprechaun 4: In Space”, said Bluewater publisher Darren G. Davis. “I loved this little character and have always wanted to do something with him.  As for “Warlock”, this was another cult film that I enjoyed, so having this opportunity to partner with Lionsgate again is going to great”.

FEMALEFORCEsm.jpg

Here’s a title that totally surprises me, but what the heck, there’s already comics about Obama and McCain, so I guess I can roll with the announcement from Bluewater Productions of a Hillary Clinton biographical comic.

“We’re excited to bring this book to the table,” says Bluewater’s Vice President Jason Schultz.  “There are a couple comics focusing on John McCain and Barack Obama, we wanted to feature Hilary who broke all the rules in this election and made history”

This 32-page comic book will be telling the story of her life, “Female Force: Hillary Clinton” will explore both sides of the issue, from her positive contribution to the new feminist ethos to the detractors who argue against her attempt to secure the nomination to the bitter end. Though the battle for the presidency now comes down to John McCain and Barack Obama, interest is still strong and steadfast for what might have been the first female presidential nominee in history. Join Bluewater Productions as we examine the enigma of Hillary Clinton.

This issue is expected to arrive in January 2009.
