To compliment yesterday’s Hawkman sketch, I went diving for something featuring Hawkgirl, and found not one, but two pieces by Noel C. Torres.

A lot of people hate the costume and look of Hawkman from the upcoming Smallville TV movie, so I’ve flipped from Batgirl to a Carter Hall kick, which lead me to this Evan Shaner piece.

Now I’m hooked on Batgirl art, and I discovered this piece by Ty Romsa.
After reading the most recent Batgirl issue, my mindset is different interpretations of the hero. Viet Nguyen whipped out this quick sketch that works really well, especially on the mask, allowing plenty of room to see.

Joe Quinones has a bunch of variant covers coming up for the Amazing Spider-Man series from Marvel. All are awesome, but I particularly like his take on Sandman.
We’ve been featuring Marvel characters all week, so now it is time for something completely different in the form of this wonderful Wonder Woman piece from Dennis Budd.
Sometimes going with the simple lines and design works much better than filling a face with every single wrinkle in the world. Case in point, Stanly Dan (if that is his real name) draws a mighty cute Magneto that makes you want pick him up and give him a snuggle, instead of running in fear from the mutant.

For some reason I’m on a Marvel kick this week, and I happened across this piece by Top Cow artist Stjepan Sejic.

I love Adam Warren’s art. If you haven’t taken a crack at his Empowered series, then you A) need to check it out, B) need to be a mature reader, and C) know what satire is. In the meantime, check out Adam’s interpretation of Daredevil and Elektra.

I’m always bouncing back and forth between a realistic art style and the over the top cartoony style. Today, I’m in the over the top cartoony style with this piece by Eric Guzman.

Have I told you how I hate the fact that DC canceled Legends of the Dark Knight? No? I’m sure Matthew wouldn’t mind me going on for a bit, but I’ll save that for another Major Spoilers Podcast where I can make Matthew jump about like an ape gone mad flinging poo at the floor and then rolling around it in. Instead, today’s Art Appreciation Moment of the Day showcases what might have been from Kelsey Shannon had DC allowed the series to continue.

For the creative type, having an office that is both functional and kick-ass is really important. I’ve showed off the Major Spoilers HQ a few years ago, but over time the place has grown to be quite a mess. I’m rectifying that at the moment, and will show off what has become of the space since it was last under the microscope. In the meantime, I thought using today’s Art Appreciation Moment of the Day to showcase an artists’ workspace might be part inspiration, part motivation.
After yesterday’s retro styled posters for Disney/Pixar’s UP!, I had a yearning for other retro art. It didn’t take me long to find Eric Tan’s work for the Indiana Jones series, which will blow your mind. Take the jump for Eric’s comments, and the final design.
Many of you are probably familiar with Randall Munroe’s xkcd web comic series that brings a chuckle to my face every day. Instead of featuring his stick figure work, today I want to show-off his take on the chart meme sweeping the Intardwebz that features everything from space missions, to Star Trek history. His take on Lord of the Rings is nice, but it’s his Primer interpretation that has me in stitches.
Head over to his site for the full image.
Haven’t featured much of Josh Howard on the Major Spoilers website in the last couple of months, and it’s time to rectify that problem now with a series of images Josh has created using cardboard as his medium of choice.
