Dynamite Entertainment and Marvel Comics have announced veteran Marvel Zombie artists Sean Philips and Fernando Blanco are teaming up with regular series artist Fabiano Neves to complete Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #4 and #5.
In a prepared statement Dynamite said,”Fans are getting the Triple Crown winner of artists with these last two issues of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness. Teaming up Sean Phillips and Fernando Blanco with Fabiano Neves for the big climax is like… well, it’s like having the Marvel Zombies and Ash in the same series! Sean’s pencils certainly know their way around the brutal world of Marvel Zombies, and AOD fans went crazy for Fernando’s work on the final issues of AOD (and the final days of Ash), so to have them both work on Ash’s afterlife adventures is simply ‘Dynamite’! Of course, regular series artist Fabiano Neves and writer John Layman will continue their incredible work on Earth-2149, keeping Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness the pure brain-craving, chainsaw-slashing action and excitement that it has been from the very beginning.”
Major Spoilers has a sneak peek of issue #4 after the jump!

Yes! Our favorite zombie slayer Ash has been fighting the deadites/Marvel Zombies in an all new series, and today Dynamite Entertainment announced the sold out issue #3 will be going back to print with a brand new variant cover. Interestingly, this is going to be an exclusive limited run of 3000. With art by Arthur Suydam, the cover is a tribute to Marvel Graphic Novel #1: The Death of Captain Marvel.
It’s a pretty wicked cover that you can see after the jump.

Holy crap, if you didn’t get excited after reading the last installment of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness, prepare to get totally blown away when the zombies take over other countries, forcing Ash and crew to seek help from none other than Dr. Doom.
If you haven’t read issue #3 yet, best of luck as Marvel tells Major Spoilers the issue has completely sold out at Diamond and has no plans to go back to press at this time.
Take the jump for a sneak peek of Issue #4 where more heroes turn to flesh eating undead.

Or - “Anybody Feel Like A Little Duck Pâté?”

The flying feathers crack me up… Looks like Cleveland’s finest could use a little ‘duck tape!’ Hey, don’t blame me, the comic made all the GOOD puns already. Now that the image of Zombie Howard The Duck has replaced Baby MODOK as the coolest individual comic book image of the last year or so, and it’s obvious that Ash has escaped his fatal “beakdown,” the truth can be revealed. Spoilerites are a sharp-eyed breed, and many of you picked up on the clues at the end of last issue, but here’s… The REST… of The Story.

Or - “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, But They Apparently Do Wear Spandex…”

There’s an image that takes on a whole new context Post-CW, doesn’t it? But this ain’t our dear Captain America, fellers an’ gals, this is the Earth-2149 version, one Colonel America, and he’s a whole different breed o’ cat. Our Captain America aims to keep innocents safe & unharmed; Colonel America just wants to make sure they’re tender & juicy. It’s a subtle difference, but I think you’ll agree it’s a meaningful one. Major Spoilers Head Ninja Stephen categorized this as a “Good, but fast read…” As the Ebert to his Siskel, I’ll now weigh in with my opinion, but here’s your Parental Advisory: it ain’t for the squeamish.

Marvel dropped off a sneak peek of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #3 and also let us know issue #2 has completely sold out at Diamond. Issue #2 had a surprise ending, which makes me wonder how it will be dealt with in issue #3. The sneak peek gives some clues, but not the final answer.

Dynamite Entertainment sent us a peek at the cover of the variant cover to the second printing of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness. The cover is a zombified homage to the cover of Captain America #1 and is done by Arthur Suydam.
Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness is a Five-Issue Limited Series that serves as a direct prequel to last year’s hit comic book phenomenon Marvel Zombies. In Marvel Zombie tradition, each issue of the series features a “zombified” cover by painter Arthur Suydam (this time incorporating Ash from Army of Darkness into each “new” classic image), and is overseen by the spiritual guru of the undead himself, Robert Kirkman. This landmark event is written by John Layman with interior art by Fabiano Neves and magnificent coloring by original Marvel Zombies colorist June Chung.
Take the jump to see Ash as Bucky!

Or - “Who’s The King, Baby? Whaddaya mean ‘Kirby?’ “

There are some concepts that are just flat-out too cool to be ignored. The original premise of “Marvel Zombies,” to be honest, is NOT one of them. It sounds like Marvel just cashing in on the usual crazes. “Walking Dead” sells for Image, so we get the writer of that to bang out a one-off series featuring zombie versions of Marvel heroes. What they DIDN’T count on was the off-kilter humor of Kirkman, and the way that he translated his long-time love of Marvel’s finest into beautiful character moments, distilling the essence of each of the old-school fave-raves and then extrapolating what each of them would do when cursed with a hunger for human flesh. It takes a certain sick kind of mind to come up with this stuff, but, judging from the sales, there’s a lot of like-minded twistos (myself included) reading comics. Take a phenomenon like that, combine it with another off-kilter cult idea, that of the housewares-clerk-turned-Deadite-fighter Ash, and you’ve got the makings of either a massive hit or a huge lawsuit. So which is it?

I loves me my Army of Darkness, and even though Sam Raimi is quiet on any future Evil Dead movies, at least for now we can enjoy Ash’s adventures from Dynamite Entertainment. This May, Dynamite will collect issues 8 through 13 in Army of Darkness: Ash v. The Monsters (and More). More info and a preview inside.
