Really? DC Comics has announced issues #2 and #3 have sold out and will be heading back to the printer for a second run.

“I’m both slightly stunned and incredibly gratified at the fan response to FREDDY VS. JASON VS. ASH,” says cowriter Jeff Katz. “Obviously, I always believed in the commercial and creative potential of this match-up, but to see it received with such intense enthusiasm has made for one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. I feel like a proud father, and I’m incredibly happy for James, Jason and Thomas because I know this project means as much to them as it does to me. DC, Wildstorm and Dynamite have done a tremendous job with this book and I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we appreciate the support — and the best is truly yet to come.”

The second printing of the issues will arrive February 13, 2008.

Ash Returns to the World of the Deadites

Saturday, July 21st, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

picon.jpg

Dynamite Entertainment has sent Major Spoilers the cover images, and a glimpse at the world Ash returns to in Army of Darkness: From the Ashes #2!

Army of Darkness: From the Ashes continues the adventures of everyone’s favorite wisecracking, chainsaw-wielding, boomstick-carrying hero of multiple realities, Ashley J. Williams, as he returns from the cross-over of all cross-overs in the world of Marvel Zombies! Army of Darkness: From the Ashes picks up directly after the Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness limited series with Ash returning to his own reality… but what a world it’s become! Evil Ash and his Deadite hordes rule the land and everywhere Ash turns is filled with mutants and monsters! Can Ash J. Williams gather his “chosen” and take down the Deadite hordes and restore order to the world? This is destined to be THE most talked about AOD series yet!

Really? I thought Marvel Zombies v. Army of Darkness was THE most talked about series. From the PR material sent to us, it sounds like From the Ashes will top that. Check out the preview pages and then tell me it doesn’t look like we are seeing the ending to the Director’s Cut collection of Army of Darkness.

Marvel Zombies Vs. Army of Darkness #5 (of 5)

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007--by Matthew Peterson

Or - “How To Escape Certain Death With Style & Grace (And A Chainsaw Hand.)”

Zom12.jpg

The problem with prequels is as simple as it is obvious. As soon as this series began, we knew where it was going to end, with Palpantine taking over as Emperor. We knew that the plague would take over the entire world, we knew that no one would survive, so we needed a charismatic lead and a good story to carry it. Ash Williams fits the first bill, and his desperate travels through this Marvel Universe have ably (and entertainingly) provided the second. Now, with the end of the zombie apocalypse upon us, the most pertinent question is “How will Ash survive?” As with every M.Z. story, there are some possibly disturbing images after the tab, so continue at your own risk…

Dynamite Entertainment Sneak Peek: Ash is Back!

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

armyofdarknesspicon.jpg

Fans of Ash will be happy to know Bruce Campbell Ashley J. Williams is back from the land of Marvel Zombies and will pick up the pieces of his original world overrun by Evil Bruce Campbell Ash and his Army of Darkness.

in a prepared statement Dynamite stated, “If there’s a philosophy behind the Army of Darkness series, it’s that it’s hard to keep a good chosen one down. Ash’s trip to the world of Marvel Zombies introduced the action and horror of AOD to a whole new audience, making our deadite-fighting hero more popular than ever. All the action and post-apocalyptic excitement is once again brought to you from the creative team of James Kuhoric and artist Fernando Blanco! And what better way to celebrate than with a cool painted cover by Mr. Marvel Zombie Cover Artist, himself, Arthur Suydam. So, grab your boom-stick, folks, ‘From the Ashes’ is going to be a wild ride!”

Woohoo! If you aren’t a fan of Army of Darkness, the great art from Dynamite, or the greatness that is Bruce Campbell Ash Williams, then what’s wrong with you? The stories told in the Army of Darkness series have always been smartly written with the spirit of the original movies in mind.

Major Spoilers Extra: Marvel Zombies Vs. Army of Darkness #4 (of 5)

Friday, June 8th, 2007--by Matthew Peterson

Or - “Latveriaaa… Latveriaaa… You Border On The Adriiiiatic!”

Zom11.jpg

So, after three issues of Ultimate Fantastic Four, the five issue original miniseries, another UFF crossover, four issues of this mini, the ‘Dead Days’ one-shot, the Fantastic Four crossover, and the Dead Days one-shot, have the Marvel Zombies finally reached the apex of their coolness? There are only so many ways to say “Everybody dies!” after all, although I prefer the fey, disaffected “You die, she dies, EVVVVerybody dies,” from Heavy Metal, m’self. Is this the issue where the franchise is finally (you should excuse the expression) cannibalized?

Sneak Peek: Marvel Zombie/Ash Reunion

Friday, May 18th, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

picon.jpg

Dynamite Entertainment and Marvel Comics have announced veteran Marvel Zombie artists Sean Philips and Fernando Blanco are teaming up with regular series artist Fabiano Neves to complete Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #4 and #5.

In a prepared statement Dynamite said,”Fans are getting the Triple Crown winner of artists with these last two issues of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness. Teaming up Sean Phillips and Fernando Blanco with Fabiano Neves for the big climax is like… well, it’s like having the Marvel Zombies and Ash in the same series! Sean’s pencils certainly know their way around the brutal world of Marvel Zombies, and AOD fans went crazy for Fernando’s work on the final issues of AOD (and the final days of Ash), so to have them both work on Ash’s afterlife adventures is simply ‘Dynamite’! Of course, regular series artist Fabiano Neves and writer John Layman will continue their incredible work on Earth-2149, keeping Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness the pure brain-craving, chainsaw-slashing action and excitement that it has been from the very beginning.”

Major Spoilers has a sneak peek of issue #4 after the jump!

Our favorite zombie slayer Ash has been fighting the deadites/Marvel Zombies in an all new series, and today Dynamite Entertainment announced the sold out issue #3 will be going back to print with a brand new variant cover. Interestingly, this is going to be an exclusive limited run of 3000. With art by Arthur Suydam, the cover is a tribute to Marvel Graphic Novel #1: The Death of Captain Marvel.
