Last I check, the fishman was trying to steal the hearts and souls of his loved one as parts of his body decomposed. For those who would rather remember the King of Atlantis in his hey day, check out the cover to the upcoming Brave and the Bold #32.
Or – “I May Be Nothin’ To You, But I Am A King Beneath The Sea…”

“Let’s see you get by underwater, as well as I do on the ground. I am AQUAMAN! Ya better not mess around.” Those prophetic words come courtesy of my third favorite band in all the world, Ookla The Mok, introduced to me by my friend Bruce of Otter Disaster infamy. So far in the New Outsider Order, we’ve seen the big bad Bat send a promising super-speedster back to an underground life that will probably lead to a villain career or death, we’ve seen him alienate his own son, we’ve discovered that even if you’re successful in your mission (as Thunder was) there’s no guarantee that he’ll respect your decision-making skills, and most tellingly, we’ve seen that the only people he trusts are the people he already trusts. At this point in the race, his only acquisition is the Martian Manhunter, and of the active Outsiders, only Katana has made the cut. His level of Bat-Dickness has been running between 6 and 10 throughout, but we’re at a moment of truth, as both Aquaman and Metamorpho have a history with Ol’ Scallop-cape.

The Detroit News is still fanning the speculation that Aquaman may be resurrected from the depths of Davey Jones’ Locker. Fan and blog sites (like Major Spoilers) have been pushing the idea that the success of Aquaman on iTunes should convince the networks to reconsider the show. The CW network, who dropped the pilot, says they have no plans to add the show to the lineup.

If you remember the Strange Tale of Aquaman I told you about previously, then you are aware that Hollywood is all a twitter over the thought of making an underwater superhero movie. Well it looks like Marvel may have beat DC to the punch when it revealed yesterday it has licensed its Namor character to Universal Pictures for a feature motion picture that is still To Be Determined. Namor or Aquaman? Does it really matter?
Okay, so Aquaman has been around for quite some time – you know, he can talk to fishes and stuff, and was in that classic cartoon show from the 70s and 80s. But no one really gave the brotha any love. This left the underwater hero as the butt of many jokes. Most recently the television series “Entourage” has Vincent Chase (played by Adrian Grenier) staring in the James Cameron (played by James Cameron) directed movie which became a huge blockbuster in the show. So much so that it even prompted a real life ad in Variety. And let’s not forget “A.C.” (played by Justin Hartley) appearing in The WB’s “Smallville”, which prompted a spin-off Aquaman pilot that was eventually dropped from the CW lineup. Since its debut on iTunes this week, the pilot has been the most purchased television show for download.
All this buzz about Aquaman now has many thinking Hollywood might actually be able to pull off an Aquaman movie. To make this strange tale of life imitating art even more bizarre, the talent agent at the center of this latest gossip is none other than Ari Emanuel – the real life counterpart to Entourage’s Ari Gold (played by Jeremy Piven).
Even though everything is still in the advanced advanced advanced rumor stage, the buzz is McG may be called up to direct this DC Comics controlled property. Of course this could all be wild speculation on the part of L.A. Times writer John Horn who broke the story today.
Several people involved in the preliminary discussions about a feature film said untangling the movie rights could prove difficult. A DC Comics spokesman did not return phone and e-mail messages. Emanuel was on a family vacation and could not be reached for comment. – John Horn in his L.A. Times article.
As we predicted earlier this week ,the success of Aquaman on iTunes would have everyone talking about breathing life into the written off character.

Just checked out the iTunes TV Show directory, and the pilot episode of Aquaman is sitting proudly at number one. The Warner show was cancelled when the CW network decided not to include it in their new network lineup. You can purchase the show for a mere $1.99, and at the rate the show has been selling, Warner Bros. will easily recoup the money spent on the pilot, and A.C. will remain at the top of the charts.

The torpeadoed Aquaman series may not be coming to a channel near you (ever), but kudos to the WB who was wise enough to try and recoup their losses on the pilot by offering the show for download via the iTunes music store. This 41 minute episode can be purchase for a mere $1.99.
If sales of this pilot go over well, could this be the message to Warner Bros. to bring the show back into production for television audiences? Or could this merely be an attempt for the studios to make money off of something they have already written off? Or could this be yet another attempt to prove that no one wants to download less than quality videos via Bittorrent?
Years ago, self-assured dive shop owner Arthur “A.C.” Curry lost his mother in the mysterious Bermuda Triangle, and now he is honing his amazing aquatic abilities under the tutelage of a cryptic lighthouse keeper.
