20th Century Fox has Ridley Scott back for a fifth Alien movie that is not a remake of the first or a sequel to the last, but a prequel to the entire Alien franchise.
It will precede that film, in which the crew of a commercial towing ship returning to Earth is awakened and sent to respond to a distress signal from a nearby planetoid. The crew discovers too late that the signal generated by an empty ship was meant to warn them.
Jon Spaihts will write the script, with Ridley Scott tapped to direct the feature.

Can’t believe another month has passed and we are about to be inundated with comic book solicitations from the various publishers – but not by those publishers who haven’t added us to the mailing list (you know who you are, and if you don’t, I’m sure the Major Spoilers Legion will contact you and ask you what is up with that).
September looks to be a pretty good month for Dark Horse, with more Buffy, Aliens, B.P.R.D., and Star Wars comics.
I really have serious doubts about what is going on in the minds of H’wood these days. If they aren’t hacking a property to death with an unedning array of sequels, the studios are rebooting franchises, or remaking movies ad nauseum. What happened to the days of original flicks?
The latest set of movies in active development are from Ridley and Tony Scott who are producing a prequel to the classic Alien film, as well as The A-Team, based on the NBC television series. The producers swear up and down that the Alien movie is not a remake, but rather a prequel to the first Alien movie, which might be kind of interesting, but after the AvP series, I think both of those franchises might want to give it a rest.
As far as the A-Team goes, this version features
a group of Iraq vets wanted by the U.S. military for a crime they didn’t commit. Their adventures combine helping the innocent while running from the law. Story has been given a modern twist by involving oil tycoons and laser technology.
The A-Team arrives June 11, 2010. I’m not too sure about oil tycoons and lasers, but if it has a scene involving buttermilk and an airplane, I’m sure it will pack ‘em in.

A Predalien from the upcoming Aliens v. Predator – Requiem.

Christmas Day in a theater near you. Ooooo… scary….
As much as people bagged on the first AVP, I didn’t think it was that bad; I mean it is what it is and after seeing the R rated trailer with heads exploding left and right, me wanna see!

If you were totally blown away by the Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem trailer that featured all the blood splattering, body ripping, face melting action you really wanted in an Alien/Predator movie, you’ll be happy to know there are more sequels planned.
“I’d like to do another one but I’d like to do it in space. The next one either has to be more of the bridge after this and before ‘Alien,’ or you could do something after ‘Aliens,’ ” Greg [Strause] said, getting back to work. “We have a pretty finite ending to this, but we have a cliffhanger per se; it’s a setup.”
I suspect the sequels will get made only, and only, if Requiem does well in theaters, especially after the laughing joke that was the first AvP. Beyond a lot of dismemberment in this movie, which I can’t wait to see, what exactly is the story?
After bursting from a Predator’s chest at the end of the first flick, “Requiem” picks up with an Alien/Predator hybrid slaughtering several Predators. “The Predalien wreaks havoc and causes a different Predator ship — it’s actually a Predator scout ship in this case — to crash on Earth,” Greg explained. “You see a bunch of Predators get whacked at the beginning.”

Holy Crap! If you thought the first Alien vs. Predator movie sucked balls, then you might just change your mind after seeing Aliens vs. Predator – Requiem. The trailer is available from the official website, but word of warning, this is the RESTRICTED trailer, which means you’re going to see lots of heads exploding, acid melting body parts, and plenty of people getting it through the chest with blades attached to hands.
DC Comics has released a sneak peek of the upcoming Superman and Batman vs. Aliens and Predators. This 48 page issue will feature the Aliens and Predators returning to the DCU.
7 page preview after the break.
