Archive for the ‘Adam Hughes’ Category
The San Diego Comic-Con website has been update with a list of the first wave of special guests that will appear at the show next summer. Among them are Neil Gaiman, Adam Hughes, Scott Kurtz and more.
Once again, Comic-Con is looking ahead to the coming year and special anniversaries to celebrate both in programming and our annual Souvenir Book. 2007 marks the 100th birthday of Hergé, the creator of Tintin, one of the most beloved comics characters in the world. It’s also the 25th anniversary of 2 indy comics stalwarts, Groo (created by Sergio Aragonés and aided and abetted by Mark Evanier) and Love and Rockets, created by Los Bros Hernandez. More anniversaries and themes and special guests will be added as we work towards the event.
I for one hope to be able to make it to the 2007 convention, as SNAFUs and sheduling conflicts prevented The Chort and me from attending in 2006.

Dynamite Brings Rare RRP Adam Hughes cover to life
Dynamite Entertainment released images and information today concerning the release of the Dynamite Select: Adam Hughes Red Sonja Statue (OCT063322). Based on the cover of the EXTREMELY RARE RRP edition of Red Sonja #2 by Adam Hughes, this 9” tall rendition of the She-Devil with a sword was beautifully sculpted by Shawn Nagle, who has produced pieces for Marvel, Toybiz, Diamond and Neca.
Sad news for those of you heading to Baltimore, Adam Hughes won’t be able to make it. Adam’s partner Allison posted the following over at the AH Yahoo Group:
hey guys…
bad news; Adam will have to cancel his appearance at the convention in Baltimore this coming weekend. I’m really sorry to have to announce it; but wanted to let everyone know. Nothing to worry about; but work related stuff will be keeping us home this weekend. So sorry guys! Try and have some fun without us!

To make you feel better, here is one of Adam’s Dejah Thoris pieces.

New York, NY – August 21 – DC Comics, the largest English-language publisher of comics in the world and home to Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, announced today the signing of superstar creator Adam Hughes to an exclusive contract. His first project under the new deal will be All Star Wonder Woman, both as writer and artist.
Frank Miller. Jim Lee. Grant Morrison. Frank Quitely. All stars.
A legendary collection of talent for legendary characters.
In that vein, it is with great honor that DC Comics introduces the latest addition to the very elite list of characters, titles and creators carrying the name “All Star”: All Star Wonder Woman, written and drawn by Adam Hughes.
Ah yes, Adam Hughes, he is to good girl art as Alex Ross is to realistic images of heros. Just found out Hughes will be working on DC’s All Star Wonder Woman. Most of you will remember Hughes long run as the cover artist for Wonder Woman (heck, I bought a lot of those issues just for the cover alone), and now he gets a crack at the pages within. I’ve been a big Hughes fan since the mid ’80s and love what he does with the human form.

But even better than the art, Hughes will also be writing the stories. Hughes said he hasn’t sat down with DiDio and crew to work out a schedule, but we can probably expect the title to begin sometime in 2007. Knowing how slowly books come out, it will probably be late 2007 before we see anything hit the stands. With Hughes’ other demands, here’s hoping he can turn out product faster than Lee/Miller’s All Star Batman and Robin…
