Hopefully the alphabet headline hasn’t thrown you into a tizzy, but the good news is NECA, the company that has recently acquired the licensing rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will offer a show exclusive at the New York Comic Con.

Peter Laird, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will be appearing at the NECA booth on Saturday, April 19th, from 1PM-3PM, signing a New York Comic Con Exclusive Edition Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Box Set. This set contains all four Ninja Turtle action figures, plus additional accessories and diorama bases. This exclusive, limited to just 500 pieces, will be the only version of the box set to contain all the additional accessories from the single-carded Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Series 1 - in stores this May.

The exclusive will set attendees back $50.

MEGO Figures Live! For Brains!

Friday, March 7th, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

notld001-1.jpgFans of dolls action figures probably shed a little tear of joy when EMCE Toys brought back the Star Trek and Planet of the Apes figures based on the original MEGO molds. The company has decided to go a step further by getting some of the original MEGO gang back together to develop an original line of figures based on The Night of the Living Dead.

In time for the film’s 40th anniversary, figures based on the Graveyard Zombie, hero Ben, damsel-in-distress Barbra and iconic undead child Karen Cooper will be released throughout 2008. Graveyard Zombie and Ben will be the first released.

The heads are sculpted by fan favorite James Brady in the classic MEGO rotocast plastic style, and the figures are packaged in MEGO-style blister packaging with illustrations by original MEGO artist Harold Shull.

The first two figures will be released in 2008.

Take the jump for a look at Ben and his zombie.

Stuntman Mike Gets Action Figure

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

StuntmanMike1.jpgStuntmanMike2.jpgNECA has released a couple of image of Kurt Russell’s Stuntman Mike action figure based on the character from the Grindhouse film.

A long-awaited fan favorite, Kurt Russell’s scarred serial killer makes his debut this summer. We’ll be debuting accessories and packaging later this spring.

I’d still rather have Kurt Russell from Big Trouble in Little China.

I hope this doesn’t get everyone yelling “Sell Out!” at the top of their lungs. Although if someone is paying for this spot, investing in some better equipment might be a good idea.

Toy Fair 2008: Quarter Scale Jones Figures Coming Your Way

Sunday, February 17th, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

dstlogo.jpg

Diamond Select Toys has announced it will offer quarter-scale figures based on the Indiana Jones characters from the various motion pictures.

The Indiana Jones Ultimate Quarter Scale line will include characters from all four feature films. Each figure will include cloth outfits and accessories as well as an authentic sound clip from the massive Indiana Jones franchise. This line of hyper-detailed and super poseable figures will begin this summer with Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones.

Additionally, DST will expand into new categories including banks based on fan-favorite characters and scenes with a variety of features. New lines of bust-style banks and unarticulated figural banks will begin in 2008, blending detailed action-packed sculpts with traditional bank designs. A companion line of feature banks will include everything from sound and voice effects to coin-activated motion features such as whip attacks and booby-traps from the iconic films!

I was never much into the larger figures, but since Raiders of the Lost Ark ranks among my most favorite movies of all time, money might just be handed over for these figures.

You really don’t want to know.

Taters_of_Lost_Ark.jpg

Okay, if you must, it’s another toy from Hasbro based on Raiders of the Lost Ark, called Taters of the Lost Ark. I think I’m gonna pass on this one.

It’ll sell for $15, when it is released May 1, 2008.
