Last week’s 27% tumble was somewhat expected for ABC’s new “V” mini-series, but the execs have to be cringing a bit this morning when the numbers came in that show the invading space alien remake took another hit, dropping an additional 18% from the previous week.  This equates to an audience size of 9.3 million, which isn’t bad as it earned the show a fifth place ranking for the night.

For those wanting a comparison, “The Biggest Loser” was able to attract 9.4 million viewers for second place, while NCIS brought in 20 million viewers to take the top spot.  Even with Laura Vandervoort, with these tumbling numbers, will the series make it past those shows already in the can?

After a huge debut, the alien remake finds itself in trouble once more as the second episode ratings fell nearly 30% from the week before.

The second “V” hour was seen by 10.7 million viewers and drew a 3.8 rating among adults 18-49, down 27% from last week. That’s the largest fall from a premiere we’ve seen for a scripted show this season.

While the numbers are nothing to sneeze at, NCIS, which has been on for a number of years, landed back at the top spot once again.  Also, execs and pundits expected the viewer loss in the second week, but with only two more episodes before the series goes on an extended break, if the last two showings continue to fall, viewers may be wondering where the alien visitors disappeared to.

Is this a sign that Chuck may be permanently deep sixed?  The Hollywood Reporter reports that Chuck executive producer Scott Rosenbaum is heading over to ABC to helm the upcoming remake of the V series.

Reevaluating the creative direction of the series, the studio made a change at the helm, switching showrunner responsibilities from executive producer Jeff Bell, who had joined in June, to executive producer Scott Peters, who penned the pilot.

According to the article, Rosenbaum will still be working with the Chuck, so it may not be off the air just yet.

Looks good if ABC would ever get the show on the air.

ABC’s adaptation of the ITV comedy No Heroics is growing as more cast members join up the 30 minute sitcom.  Freddie Prinze Jr. joins as Ultimatum, the nemesis for Paul Campbell’s Pete aka Chillout.

An A-list superhero, Bradley is a handsome, cocky and egotistical Alpha male who has all the women and fame and money a guy could want.

Of course he is, he’s married to Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Joining Prinze and Canadian actor Campbell are Eliza Coupe and Arielle Kebbel.

Fans of the ABC Family series that were wondering what happened to the series finale of the show, need wonder no more, as ABC Family and Viper Comics team up for the final story.

From ABC Family

Fans of the ABC Family cult hit series can revisit the weird world of “The Middleman” and his trusty side-kick Wendy Watson when the “lost” series finale episode appears in comic book form this summer. The series will also be released on DVD in summer 2009.

In a deal with Viper Comics, “The Middleman – The Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse” graphic novel is to be written by creator/executive producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Hans Beimler, with illustrations done by Armando M. Zanker and layouts by Les McClaine. “The Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse” special collector’s comic book edition will be released in July 2009 to coincide with the annual Comic Con Convention in San Diego.

The Middleman Season One DVD will arrive in stores in July 2009.  It will include all twelve episodes as well as bonus material.

In yet another attempt to do the least work possible, ABC has approved a pilot ripping off retelling redoing the British ITV series No Heroics.  If you’ve had the opportunity to catch the original series, it is quite funny as it showcases a group of superheroes who hang out in a bar after hours and have interesting exchanges.

The list of international television shows that have been redone for American television is simply staggering, and I wonder what would happen if ABC simply gave No Heroics in its original form a chance on American TV.  Obviously there are some issues with language in the original series, then again it’s been a while since I’ve heard the censor beep.

If ABC doesn’t screw this up, Better Off Ted looks to be one heck of a funny show.

Better Off Ted is a satirical office comedy featuring a successful but morally conscious man, Ted, who runs a research and development department at a morally questionable corporation, Veridian Technologies. No achievement is too far fetched and no invention too unorthodox for Veridian. Need a suicidal turkey? Done. Need a metal that is hard as steel but bounces – and is edible? Done and done. Ted loves his seemingly perfect job; he loves his superhuman boss, Veronica, and colleagues Lem, Phil and Linda, but he’s starting to take a closer look at the company’s extremely questionable practices… especially when they try to cryogenically freeze one of Ted’s scientists for testing purposes.

Oh boy, if there was ever a weird sci-fi mini-series, that turned into a full blown series, that featured alien Nazi Reptilians invading Earth, and rounding up humans for food, and was then canceled after one season, it would have to be V.  ABC has given a greenlight nod to a remake of the series that had audiences glued to their television screens in the 1983.

The new “V” centers on Erica Evans, a Homeland Security agent with an aimless son. When the aliens arrive, her son gloms on to them — causing tension within the family.

I wonder if the Nazi theme will pop up again, or if all of that will be swept under the table.  I for sure want to see red jumpsuits and aliens eating live rodents.  No word if Robert Englund will make an appearance and rip his human face off to reveal our new lizard overlords.
