Pretty good tie up and inspired panels to Kingdom Come future. It had more emotion and depth in Ross's future scenarios than many comics that came out for the year.I say kudos.

That's a really good point, wyntermute. Pretty pathetic that we have to consider providing a conclusion - a basic point in *all* storytelling - to be the BRIGHT side in all this. But a good point nonetheless.

Y'know, you can say this didn't advance the characters you mentioned, which is true. You can say this is an attempt to Kash in on Kingdom, which is true. You can even say it was kinda out of sync with the rest of the DCU, which is true (I dunno really, I just wanted a 3rd statement to complete the "which is true" trifecta).

HOWEVER, at least this was the "end" of a storyline. It was what we were promised, and what we got. Unlike a certain Morrisomebody's "Conclusion" to a certain R.I.P., this actually ties off the loose threads and cleanses the palate for whatever's coming next. This is why, though I'm not really that attached to writers/artists/creators as much as I am their characters, Geoff Johns is a "winner" in my books. I'm not even trying to imply that this will be a "classic" that we regard fondly in 15 years. I'm just sayin "This is an exit".

It's actually the Legion briefly seen in Kingdom Come, a variation on the Archie Legion with some pre-Crisis members...

I won't be buying this again until Johns is gone (especially since Black Adam's returning and Johns seems to think BA can still be an anti-hero after killing a whole freaking country) so I have to ask which reboot Legion was shown? Does it place the Archie Legion or the Threeboot Legion as the Legion of Earth-22?

Good issue. I particularly liked the last pannel, with the Legion of Superheroes. Looks like most of them are the Reeboot Legion, but I saw a few of the good old ones, like Bouncing Boy and Timber Wolf.
Nice.

Earth-22: you have to be insane to live there, but you can't get there unless you're sane!

Wowza. My copy remains at the funny book store, due to the recession, so I'm glad you're here to tell me what happened.

The whole storyline has left me cold, and I think your examination of the "point" of it is spot on. The story took a year and did nearly nothing to advance the characters. Unfortunately, I think we could say that about most of the mainstream comics out there.

The most interesting thing about the mess was the return of Earth-2, but even that was handled as little more than a tangent. I wouldn't be surprised if Bill Willingham doesn't touch it in his next run. I don't know if I'd even be surprised of this year's big storyline will feature the Watchmen.
