Here’s how Hollywood thinks, “If we had success with one movie, done one way, and released on a particular weekend, the we must be able to repeat that success again, and again, and again.”  Such is the thinking with the Twilight sequel that is being rushed into production for a November 20, 2009 release date.

Execs at Summit — which announced plans for a sequel on just the second day of release for “Twilight” — just confirmed that Chris Weitz (”The Golden Compass”) will direct “New Moon.” The minimajor recently parted ways on the project with Catherine Hardwicke, who helmed the original.

Let’s see, how well did The Golden Compass do?  I haven’t seen Twilight, but from the reports I’ve read, Hardwicke seemed to know how to handle the first book adaptation, even if she is a bit set in her ways as to how the film should be produced.

Rushed productions only mean one thing; trouble.

Stephen remember that fans of The Golden Compass are of a very wide variety of litterary lovers who didnt believe the movie lived up to the book where as…sorry if i offend anybody..Twillight fans are screaming teen and tween girls who will watch every single movie just because: Oooh hes so dreamy, insert high pitched scream here.

Its gonna work, and its gonna work for all of those bad, bad reasons…Suits and the teen-girl demographic loooove eachother…Just look at what Disney is doing.
