DC Comics set the Interweb all a twitter last week when it released a starteling image of an upcoming event. I’ve seen the high resolution version and have posted a few close ups for your inspection, reflection, and comments.

There are three areas of interest in the picture.

First is the gold fleck I mentioned before - looks like it is a Legion flight ring. Above that? Uh-oh - is that Atom’s hand buried in the ground? Is he about to die?

Many readers noticed the glow coming off Kyle Rayner/Ion’s hand. Since his power is internal, does this mean he has gone back to ring power? My question is why is it yellow? Has he joined the Sinestro Corps?

All of the other dead characters in the image look like they are buried, but for Vic Sage, there seems to be an awful lot of blood pooled around his “missing” legs.

Finally, what is this piece of technology? Does it tie in with the New Gods and Apokolips? Is it a teleportation device to move between worlds? I’m sure one you knows the answer.
