You are clearly tight. Revise calls him Sam, he turned the tigers into butter, and Revise said he had all but destroyed him thanks to over sensitive mundys. I read of him as a child, but of course he isn't mentioned in public these days. It's that sort of thing that makes this a great comic I think. It sounds like childrens stories, fables are real people, but then you have the fable that is unknown because we don't teach our children those stories anymore. Also Goldilocks is practically immortal because she is so well known she can't die out.

Randall, I assume that the character to which you refer is Little Black Sambo.

And yeah, Matthew; you need to pull this book. While not possessing the sort of scope as the book it spun off from, the combination of the incorrigible and inveterate title character with the fleshing-out of the world of Fables is a must-read every month. (And Babe's daydreams are themselves worth the price of admission!)

My local libraries seem to have recently decided trade collections were a viable literary source for young people, so I go around to them and grab every interesting trade they have. This has introduced me to stuff like Fables, Sandman, at the moment issues of Thor from the 80's (I'm not sure what to make of those to be honest), and Nextwave, which I then ordered a copy for myself afterwards. Anyway recently I borrowed a copy of Jack of Fables. I knew of it because naturally I did some research after reading Fables. It looks like it might be the first volume, I can't find any list of issues, because Jack is describing why he is walking around with a suitacse of money just before the Library grabs him. I would grab all the issues I can get my hands on but I have the same problem with Sandman because there are so many issues it would be prohibitively expensive to get them all.

Anyway I'm glad to have this oppurtunity to ask some questions. Off hand,

1) Can you say who that old fable at the library was? He's black (African American etc) and seems to be like the flash but as he himself says, he's so old and forgotten I have no idea who he is meant to be. Of course I'm not american and although I know who Paul Bunyan is I may not know the story.

2) The issue I have been reading introduces the three librarians, the three sisters, and apart from the fact one of them has different coloured hair they all look the same. I assumed they were clones, or triplets. You say though that they have different fathers?

I think you should add it to your list. I'm infinitely glad that Bolland is working for DC again.
