There you go, the money is in the licenses and in the literary adaptations. (and in the case of DC, in videogames and NBC series). I loved Kidnapped and Ender's Game and i Cannot wait to see them. I also heard that Marvel is planning The Electric Ant from Phillip K. Dick for February. It would be great Marvel reprinted the Hobbit comics from Chuck Dixon.

And under Quesada we clearly have an artist's paradise with writers getting a little of the love too. Why bother turning your work in time if you know the company has delayed most of their output to accomodate artists before? When the EIC can't make a monthly deadline with a year headstart? I prefer Marvel to DC most years but I miss timeliness and professionalism. Wasn't Mighty delayed not so much because of Cho's slowness but because he was doing other work when he should have been drawing his bread and butter series?

Oops. I forgot to use profanity. Is this criticism still valid?

Re: The Astonishing X-Men filler mini -

I agree that Bainchi should have had more issues in the can before they even solicited Astonishing. However, since this is not the main X-Men book and the Cassady/Whedon run was also riddled with delays, I think the two issue mini to fill in story gaps is not the end of the world.

Could Marvel (and DC!) editors do a better job at reigning in the talent? Yeah, they could. Unfortunately, thanks to the creation and rise of Image, they're too scared of pissing the talent off by telling them to get their $#!^ together. The editors are too afraid of driving the talent off to either their direct competitor or giving them the motivation to self-publish, especially with the "superstars." Realistically, the big two could get the talent under contract stipulating a certain level of output to help with this issue, but this would probably have an alienating effect.

Cory, I didn't suggest you should. I'm asking if there's anywhere else I can get your opinions. I was being serious when I said I want to see longer posts of your thoughts with more time put into them.

The sarcasm rating for this post is o.

Still working on the anger issues, Cory?

Bianchi was announced as artist to only half of Ellis' run in the first place and the artist admitted up front he was unsure of his exact output.

But that's a distraction to why I wanted to comment: Why couldn't Ender's Game be adapted before I found out Card is so hateful to my particular lifestyle? I can't give a dime to a product that in any way puts money in that man's pocket any longer. It's a shame too because I loved all the Ender and Bean stories and I'll never see another.

Oh, and Cory? Do you have a website? I'm curious to see how this passion of yours reads when it gets to be long form, rather than the quick hits we're forced to settle for in comment pages.

Warren Ellis' and Simone Bianchi's run on Astonishing X-Men WAS ANNOUNCED at the 2007 San Diego Comicon!!!! They had an f*ing YEAR to get issues done. And now we have three good to middling artists on a moronic fill-in trick (the two issue "miniseries"). WHAT THE F is wrong with Quesada?! A DAMN YEAR!! That's how long you had to get Bianchi's sh*t together. And what will this three month grace period get the readers? Perhaps HALF AN ISSUE by Bianchi. At this point, the only Marvel Comics I'm collecting are written by Warren Ellis. Why is it that Quesada seeks to ruin every project by Ellis?! Steve McNiven was pulled off of Ultimate Secret. Salvador Larroca was pulled off Newuniversal. And now Bianchi wasn't really assigned to Astonishing X-Men he was only ever meant to do three issues and out. As is obvious, I DETEST Joe Quesada, I think he's a terrible manager and he and Bendis should be FIRED as quickly as possible.

I predict that Warren Ellis will be on Astonishing X-Men until Maybe the 9th issue. Then he's leaving. And then so am I.
