I got around to reading this last eve and it is difficult fathom that the heroes (Cylon/Skrulls) readers have been following
for months/years have actually been Cylon/Skrulls in all the past story arcs. I do not know about that? Not to mention 9-lives - Jean Grey is back from the dead AGAIN. Wake me from my shower on the set of ‘Dallas’ when the Marvel Zombie
    Cylon/Skrulls arrive.

Wow. Didn’t see this coming. A reprint with a variant cover … that’s essentially a spoiler. Man, Marvel is going to Russell a bunch of fans.

  3. Stephen Schleicher Says:

:D heh, you said russell ;)

  4. Jim Says:

Not that it matters, but why did they crop Spidey? Did the graphic team not notice/care?
Also, using a spread from the issue as a variant seems kinda lazy, don’t it?

  5. Ransom Says:

I hate these kind of covers that give away story. The end of that Blue Beetle story arc had JLI all over the front just a week ago. I remember thinking years ago, “Hey, maybe I’ll pick up that Countdown to Infinite Crisis reprint and OH MY GOD TED KORD DIED!”

You can make flashy covers without the major spoilers, guys. We go to websites for that sort of thing.

  6. Brother129 Says:

Riddle me this: Does lazily slapping together a variant image of ’70’s era Marvel heroes REALLY spoil anything. We read the freakin’ issue and can any of us even begin to speculate what’s about to happen next?

  7. Stephen Schleicher Says:

I think with the rush job of getting this issue back to press and on the shelves before the second issue arrives is key to Marvel making big bucks with this series. We’ll know next month how many issues are estimated to have been sold to see if Marvel anticipated reader demand or not. If this was a sudden thing, and going back to press was necessary to meet demand, hiring someone to do a variant and get it to the printers and to the retailer in the next 20 days may have necessitated using a panel from the issue. Of course there isn’t much spoiling going on as this “reveal” panel has been all over the net since the issue was released last week.

  8. J'osh Says:

If anything it confirms that the splash isn’t even remotely what it appears to be.

  9. Rodrigo Says:

I don’t think cropping spider-man was an accident, it’s supposed to be an easter egg kind of thing

  10. Pat Wagner Says:

I am expecting nothing , but if they restore the Beast to his pre-Morrison incarnation , That would be worth collecting.

  11. Wakka Says:

Is that the Scarlet Witch? Wow, i really dont see a way for Marvel to make up a story in which the scarlet witch we all know that caused the House Of M was really a reality warping skrull. Really.
Im convinced that all those heroes in the ship are just skrulls dsguised to throw everyone off. =p
