Well, it looks suitably Burtony and the pig made me chuckle. Didn’t know that it wasn’t going to be a retread of the original though. Granted every Alice adaptation ends up as a weird pastiche anyway, but they’re looking at an own goal if the marketing doesn’t absolutely hammer home that it’s meant to be a sequel. Imagine if Return to Oz had been released as The Wizard of Oz!
They could have called it something different so everyone would know it was a sequel and not a retelling of the original story. Other then that the movie looks….bleh. Is there ever going to be a moment when film makers realize what to much CGI is?
I love how the US version doesn’t have the Marriage portion of the trailer… As if Americans wouldn’t find Alice running away from a marriage proposal too demeaning on the British type.
@Ray – No… there will never be a moment when they realize what too much CGI is. Ask the guys at Dreamworks and Pixar.. lol. Besides, I love the look of the film. Depp doesn’t even need CG with his makeup, but I’m sure it’s a long wait while his face gets put on.
As with most Burton films…its my opinion that you either LOVE it or DON’T. Certain movies of his just seem to bite at your ankles with anticipation…this one however doesn’t…at least not for me anyway.
wow. Looks like a real expensive telemovie.
