The Thunderbolts Cyclone was his successor. Cobalt Man died in the explosion in Civil War #1, though he was impersonated by Iron Man in the Thunderbolts/Avengers limited series. Cobalt Man's gimmick of blowing hisself up real good may indicate that he's not really as D-E-D as they might have you believe, though.
