I like your comparison Usagizero, although I liked all four shows. Buffy was the best, I felt, and a lot of very good actors appeared there that were (and are) successful later on.
Joss to me is like Orson Welles or Terry Gilliam. Anyone with such extraordinary creativity is bound to run into obstacles, and since Mr. Whedon is doing so much, he seems to run into them a little more often.
I will miss Dollhouse, yet I am grateful they had the opportunity to make the shows they did.
Like a favorite movie, I will buy it, watch it over and over, and wonder if there will be a movie, or a "Dollhouse Season Three" comic to follow (hint, hint).

Personally i feel Joss is kind of like this generations Chris Carter (although JJ Abrams is seeming to be the next one), and his last couple shows are highly overrated. Buffy = X-files (show that broke ground, made the name), Angel = Millennium (next show, in some ways better and more refined than first, but not as popular generally), Firefly = Lone gunmen (trying something "different", tanks), Dollhouse = Harsh Realm (dystopian).

For the record, i enjoyed buffy and angel, tried to enjoy firefly, but seemed to come across as "i'm so clever for making it western like and stuff" with not that much else and too much expectation that it would go longer and allow the threads to develop. Dollhouse was just boring and stupid to me, enjoying a show shouldn't be "work".

For those interested, Joss's thoughts on the news:

"Hmm. Apparently my news is not news.

I don't have a lot to say. I'm extremely proud of the people I've worked with: my star, my staff, my cast, my crew. I feel the show is getting better pretty much every week, and I think you'll agree in the coming months. I'm grateful that we got to put it on, and then come back and put it on again.

I'm off to pursue internet ventures/binge drinking. Possibly that relaxation thing I've read so much about. By the time the last episode airs, you'll know what my next project is. But for now there's a lot of work still to be done, and disappointment to bear.

Thank you all for your support, your patience, your excellent adverts. See you again. -j. "

Yay for Dr. Horrible, but I liked Dollhouse. I hope they are at least allowed to do a final episode to try and wrap some stuff up.
