It’s pretty much assumed that when you say you’re making a Green Lantern movie, that the film is going to be filled to the brim with special effects.  According to Director Martin Campbell, 1,300 visual effects shots are already in script, which is going to up the budget of the film by quite a bit.  This is going to make it harder for Warner Bros. to deliver, since the strengthening Australian dollar has  caused production to move out of Australia and into Louisianan.

The movie is still scheduled for a June, 2011 release date.

  • Hey!:

This is one of the few heroes where visual SFX is everything- the ring constructs are manifestations of the owners willpower and imagination- without convincing effects, i just dont know that you can do this story justice.

  • John Morales AKA uglyhooker:

Yep this movie is going to need to look smooth with the SFX. Hell most of the time Lantern’s have the shield around them…soo…gonna need to look organic.

I feel like a douche for saying organic.

  • Without a doubt, the SFX will make or break this movie. Those cheesy, giant boxing gloves have to be as realistic as possible or I will lose all faith in Hal’s abilities.
