I don't know, Matthew. I saw glimpses of the League that I've always loved in both Meltzer and McDuffie's run. Sure, they were based in nostalgia, but they gave me hope that the book would finally return to some semblance of greatness. I do agree with you on the art from Benes though. Pin up poses in every panel do not convey a story...

The bottom line for me comes back to editorial limiting who the creators can use and what tales they are allowed to weave for the League. I want the Robinson book to work, I really do. With the team that's coming in I'm worried though. We all know that Superman, Wonder Woman, and Bruce will be back at some point. That means that once again we will get a story about the League falling apart and the "Trinity" having to pick up the pieces. Frankly, I'm tired of that.

Has anyone noticed how Bagley basically draws the same face for every male and female character he creates? the only difference is age and weight. If you look at gypsy and zatanna they literally look like the SAME PERSON in the comic.

Besides, we already know that the new JLA is filled with grown-up Teen Titans -- sort of like Menudo joining the Backstreet Boys once they passed 16....

Even though the JLA & Avengers are supposed to be "equals", isn't it weird how differently they're treated? The Avengers get 4 books and tied-into/made the centerpiece of almost everything. The JLA gets 1.25 books ("Justice Wept" counts as .25 since it is limited in number) and tacked-onto/made the centerpiece of almost nothing. :-S I want my JLI back!

I’m saddened at the state of what should be DC’s flagship title. I’ve been reading some incarnation of the League since JLA 192 vol. 1. Now I could care less if I pick the book up.

Mmm... This title started poorly, in my opinion. The first twelve issues are pretty incoherent, and I believe that most of the genesis of this book was to have Brad Meltzer onboard. Even the Lightning Saga is hard to read, for me, especially with my dislike for the art of Ed Benes. Sure, he draws a pretty girl and a nice pinup, but in a book with THIRTEEN main characters, we're gonna need a little more than that...

After that, we had the silliness with Salvation Run, some flashes of promise in the MacDuffie run, and not much else. The JLA's home title hasn't really been a sure-fire hit since before Justice League Elite, if you ask me. :) Which is why I'm hoping that Robinson has a bang-up ending and return to form in CFJ...

He killed a bunch of them in the 3rd issue the one with Supergirl crying for no reason, that was the second thing that made me quit the series. 1st Kara crying was out of character and second Prometeus kills a whole team of supers yet no one notices? Really? Even when they were once deputised by Checkmate?

Except...wait, can I spoil this? Off course I can. The site is Major Spoilers after all. Robinson has stated that we shouldn't assume the BlueJay is dead so even that "death" doesn't count.

I have to say, the issue didn't do much for me. You would think that after the cluster that DC Editorial made of this title when McDuffie came aboard they would give a new creative team time to get the book on track without having crossovers dictate the story. Except they aren't. The entire storyline is set after events of Robinson's Cry for Justice, which hasn't concluded, and moves directly into Blackest Night. DC...stop it!
