From the moment Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog hit the intardwebz, fans of musical comedies, with a superhero hook have been in seventh heaven. While there have been a couple of attempts to tell a Dr. Horrible origin story, the official take on the villain’s past can only be found in the pages of Dr. Horrible #1 from Dark Horse Comics.

Jeff Smith just returned from the Retailer Summit in Baltimore, where he unveiled the cover to RASL #7, arriving in February.

Got a lot of great feedback on RASL, which was nice. Above is the art for the cover of #7, which will be in the Diamond catalog for items shipping in Feb. Starting with #7 next year RASL will begin shipping bimonthly. The second collection, RASL 2: The Fire of St. George should drop in April. Amazing color from Steve, huh? Wild!

My biggest concern with the RASL has been its shipping schedule. Going bimonthly is certainly a step in the right direction, but a monthly schedule would really rock.

eh… I don’t really wanna push Jeff Smith into a shipping schedule that he’s not comfortable with, especially if it means his work is going to suffer for it. Would it be great to have this comic out more often? Sure. Would I rather have that over a consistently awesome book that he’d like more time in writing/drawing? Can’t say that I would.

If Jeff feels that a flexible schedule is what works best for his work process, then far-be-it for me to say he should make it come out more often.
