IMO, the most shocking change to the X-Men I could imagine would be going 1 year without any “shocking changes”, “earth-shattering events”, or promises of “things will never be the same again.”

meh, Wolverine will make an appearance somewhere and the title will be saved.
Dillon’s art looks horrible.
As if the lame Cable title hasn’t dragged this story out long enough already.
Pretty pumped about the Psylocke series though.
I have two points to make.
One: All these “earth-shattering” events make me miss the comics when the heroes wouldn’t be doing anything heroic. Right now I would love to see an issue or two devoted to the X-men doing a bar-b-cue or maybe see Clint and Mockingbird go on a date. The Flash-es having a race for the fun of it. Kyle Rayner trying to have a love life. Clack surprising Lois on their anniversary. Anything that isn’t game-changing or world-chainging, but still fun. Aren’t their any writers able to do that anymore.
Two: Remember when Spider-man was the face of Marvel? I miss that. It used to be that you would send Peter into a comic to save it; not Logan. Now it seems like Wolverine is the face of Marvel and Spider-Man was relegated to the back. WHat happened?

Somewhere along the way, people forgot what our heroes should represent. We forgot that it’s more important to be Good than to be Bad-Ass.
Loved that X-men comic where the played basketball. (Wow, that was over 15 years ago). My favorite down-time comics are when X-Factor goes through therapy sessions. Love that stuff.
Ok.. Just how old is Cable? While in the future 15 years has gone by so far.
What else are they going to do to screw with the story?
And that artwork looks like something you would normally see in a coloring book.
