Brainiac Returns to Smallville

E! Online is reporting James Marsters will be returning to Smallville this season to reprise his role as Brainiac.

While it’s unclear exactly how James is returning, I can tell you he’s reprising the exact same character, he’s returning to set very soon and his episodes begin airing in January.

I do like the way Braniac was introduced and handled in Smallville, although I still prefer the I’ve come for knowledge and will then destroy your planet Brainiac from Superman: The Animated Series.

And don’t forget the new season of Smallville featuring the introduction of Supergirl airs tonight!

It’ll be weird re-associating him with Brainiac after his excellent Lex Luthor portrayal in the Superman: Doomsday movie. Whatever misgivings you may or may not have with the movie, his voice acting was top notch in my opinion and I just picture him as Lex whenever I hear his voice now. New season looks pretty good with Supergirl and the return of Brainiac.

I dunno. Too many years as Spike and it feels wrong to not have Marsters blonde and with that accent. I have trouble getting past it. At least Heroes had the good sense to have Anders retain his infamous accent.
