I can totally live with a BSG-style take on "Star Trek" - that's what Strzynski petitioned Paramount for the rights to the series for a few years back and I was totally on board with it. But please - PLEASE - don't try to shoehorn it in as an extension of existing continuity. Just relaunch the damned series within its own framework and be done with it; anything else is continuity porn ala "Countdown to Infinite Crisis' which totally sucks. My only query is if this is going to bring us back to go-go boots and mini skirts again because despite canon, it would look a little silly. I can't say I totally disagree with this approach. Anyone who's read comics all their life should realize that a little reboot can be a healthy thing, otherwise Batman would have died of old age back in 1978 (or wouldn't that be kind of cool?) I guess Trek will be one of the movies/TV shows that get this treatment, like Flash Gordon, Doctor Who, Buffy, etc. I hated Generations, and I hope Nimoy is just there to have a flashback and make the smooth transition so we can say to ourselves "okay, for THIS story, that's what young Spock looks like." But I tell you whut, I'd rather have Nimoy in there than Shatner. I love me some Kirk, but if I have my choice between the two...well, actually I'd go with Takei. "Ohhh myyyy...balloon knot..."
