Downey is about as perfect as casting, physically and attitude-wise, as you could ask for Stark. And he's a great actor to boot. The clip definitely looked promising.

The footage was very good from what I saw. Downey seemed to have Stark's character down perfectly.

I wasn't at the Con, but I did see a grainy bootleg of the type Favreau was referring to (maybe on Aint It Cool, not sure.) Honestly, Iron Man has leapfrogged WALL-E and The Dark Knight as my "must see" for next year. It looks seriously well put together--Favreau apparently isn't dicking around and letting beancounters handicap his film. Seems like even more than with Spider-Man, Marvel and Avi Arad is giving a director a free hand to recreate something closer to the actual Marvel Universe in a film (even if it's more Ultimate than 616.) Maybe it's because Iron Man is considered a second-tier character (though that doesn't explain Daredevil and Ghost Rider.) Either way, this is not some 2-hour excuse to sell toys, or an exercise in retarded summer blockbusters. Even the few small and fuzzy images I saw reeked of QUALITY.

You do see the suit flying a bit, but the real treat of the footage was Tony kicking ass on his captors with the Mark I. I hope to see a nice looking version of the clip pretty soon.
