James Vanderbilt has signed by Sony to write the fourth installment of the Spider-Man movie franchise. Although that might seem like a big announcement for some, it’s kind of late news as Vanderbilt already turned in the first draft of the flick, with two other writers (David Lindsay-Abaire and Gary Ross) to do the rewrites. The bigger news is he is also on board as the writer for movies five and six.
Spider-Man 4 is currently in pre-production, with a 2010 production date, so everything can be wrapped and the film in theaters by May 2011.

Man, too bad Marvel Studios isn’t reaping the full profits from this franchise.
We’ve already had Parker fight 5 villains in the span of 3 movies. Gwen Stacy has come and gone. M.J. is with Peter.
The Lizard has his groundwork laid so that seems like a good call. I don’t know if Kingpin can make the crossover (I guess 20th Century Fox might have that locked up).
If Marvel Studios had these characters back (as they should) I’d really enjoy a Spider-Man/Daredevil crossover. It would be a good opening to introduce Power Man & Iron Fist too.
Any news, rumors, or spoilers on the content of any of the films? What’s next?
Guys,
i thought James Vanderbilt did some rewrites onb a earlier script for SM4 but his ideas we’re rejected, he has signed on for 5 and 6 but he no longer has anything to do with 4
