Even though Wolverine has less than blockbuster success at the box office, H’Wood is sending the adamantium clawed hero back to theaters for a second outing.

The movie’s story line will take its cue from the early 1980s Chris Claremont/Frank Miller miniseries, which is set in Japan and features Wolverine dealing with ninjas as he struggles whether to follow his animal killer instincts or the life under a samurai’s code of honor and respect.

Hugh Jackman will return as the title character and will also serve as producer.   $180 million isn’t anything to sneeze at, and I bet Fox is hoping good word, and with the “Usual Suspects” scribe Christopher McQuarrie on board to write, the followup might be better than the original.  I know there are some of the Major Spoilerites who liked the Wolverine movie, and I wonder how many will head back to the theater for the sequel?

Sometimes sequels are better than the original. As was the case with X-Men 2. I hope this is true in this regard. Wolverine left me feeling somewhat empty.

as much as i like the idea of putting the miller/claremont book to the silver screen, i think they nned to let the character go and do something else. heck, there’s hundreds of mutants in the x-men universe, surely they can pick one and make it as interesting as wolverine. he already had 3 movies about him, not counting origin.

The first was okay, definitely not as good as it could have been. Hopefully this will be back to the level of quality set by the first two X-men movies. Looking forward to watching it in the theaters.

Watching “Wolverine” was somewhat enjoyable but afterwards I couldn’t stop thinking about how incredibly absurd and even corny a lot of the movie was. The second one is obviously a ways off, so I’ll probably see it but I hope it’s not just better but A LOT better.

I am of the opinion that this movie would be better with more ninjas & less Wolvie. Can we maybe substitute Psylocke? She would still kinda work with the ninja-theme. Otherwise, I say scrap it all and focus on another mutant. :) I didn’t go to see “Origins” because I’ve had enough Wolvie, so I’ll probably take a pass on this too.
