I doubt the coming event in the 616 is going to be as universe ending as in Ultimate universe, but Norman Osborn is set to reveal is master plan for Marvel in 2010, and it begins with The List series.

The List. This eight-issue limited series, comprised of eight double-sized specials, leads Marvel fans to the changes in store for the world’s most popular super heroes! The Iron Patriot decides there are things wrong with the world, things that need to be handled and when he’s done, the stage is set for the biggest comic book event of the next decade! It all begins in September with the first three The List issues—Avengers, Daredevil and X-Men!

This one will change things forever!

  • Josh:

“The Marvel Universe will never be the same!”

  • Why Alan Davis? Seriously!

  • Gaumer:

Iron patriot ends the marvel U??? I thought Joe Q was doing that *ZING*

  • Big Money B.G.:

After seeing what they allowed Loeb to do to the once-beloved Ultimate Universe, there’s no shock left to give. I’m now worried they’re capable of allowing any crazy thing to happen, just to see what sticks.

After all, Mephisto is around to clean things up, right? Nothing like using the Devil as your deus ex machina…

  • Big Money B.G.:

…And magic bullets, and time machines…

  • Jacin B:

Didn’t they promise, at Comic-Con, that there’d be no more large crossover events at Marvel? Or, am I just imagining that?

  • typhoidhater:

Wait, all of a sudden this is a miniseries? So there is going to be crossover between the issues despite the differing creative teams? So much for enjoying the issues to titles I get and ignoring the others without any problems…

  • Brian McQueary:

No, Jacin. You are correct. Some much for settling down after the end of Dark Reign. Glad I only get 5 Marvel books.

  • Jeff:

    *yawn*

    Meh.

  • Rowan:

“Now with way more HOLO-FOIL Covers !!!!!” The 90s is coming back harder than the clone saga was to swallow !

  • Hat of Tim:

    Ah, yes, another Marvel Event…

Just a thought though…isn’t about time someone cleaned Norman Osborn’s clock? This plotline is getting very very dull very very fast, so can someone just end it? I mean, villains? Running the MU? Seriously?

    Wake me when it’s over…

  • Jim:

I think Marvel is trying to see how many colons they can fit into one title, “Dark Reign: The List: Avengers: New Avengers: Ronin: Chapter 1″!!!

  • ~wyntermute~:

Jim… You forgot ” :The Return!”

  • Samson:

“The List” are a bunch of one-shots each featuring a specific character or team, not a mini-series. Think of them as an annual. For example, the DD: List issue takes place after #500, but before #501.

  • Brian McQueary:

With all due respect, I don’t buy that. It’s an “8 issue limited series” per the solicitation. An 8 issue series with a cohesive storyline is an event. Also, the fact that the repercussions will undoubtedly play out in the regular titles does make it a crossover, in my opinion.

  • Matty:

I suspect Samson and Brian McQueary are both right. Marvel will solicit it as an 8-issue limited series to capture the dollars of completists but, with different creative teams on each issue its unlikely to really be a cohesive storyline… sorta like the recent Young Avengers Presents. I suspect the underlying story is pretty much, “Norman Osborn is a moustache-twirling, type of bad guy with nefarious plans for your character/team… remember, he’s a businessman but he’s also CRAAAZY, so whatever you’ve got cooked up should be clever, manipulative, but obviously wrong/evil.”

I am not hating Marvel Comics stories right now but I hope the Osborn stuff wraps up soon. Despite the interviews w/ editors and marketing, Osborn hasn’t really come across as a complex character.
